The January 2011 Photo Competition - COMMENT

I already know who I'm voting this month...

BTW, Breaker you got a hi res version of your entry.... the picture looks amazing!!

petach, very nice image but despite your super wide lens you have chopped off half the roof and some of the front lights by the looks of things, try again and you will defiantly get my vote :)

Just seen Breakers pic. might as well call it a day right now! Gonna take mine off and leave a blank space as a mark of respect for a valiant attempt.

PS...BluZif, the pic is cropped to within a gnats bollock either side and to a fag paper on the roof. Honest! The dark bits are my own attempt at a mean and moody look. Thanks for the critique and it is nice to know that someone takes the time to do it...cheers matey. :D

Ah, rubbish! Leave it on! Nice angle! Everyone likes different styles of pictures.
I never win these things! It's the taking part that counts!

I'm trying to get the right shot of my Z4 to do some tone mapping on but just haven't found the right location yet!

Amazing difference can made from the original picture!! Takes time and experimentation though!! :o

Just a general comment at the entries so far, as far as post processing goes (photoshop, paintshop, whatever) most of the time less is more. Not every image suits the black and white effect.

Does "Open" competition mean that you don't have to own the car in the pic, as per the rules ?

That's a great pic of Z4's, Breaker and I think we should petition to change that rule. They are Zeds after all.....

You just raised the issue that I have been considering..... :?
A few pictures have slipped by before that I did not catch until I was constructing the voting thread and at that point I let it go.

The rule is clear...
The car in the picture must belong to you (or wife/gf etc)
I know this won't be a popular decision but I am going to ask Breaker to withdraw the photo and replace it with another or I can remove his post.

Sorry....it's a great picture but the rule is quite clear.

Now if we want to make an exception to the rule in a future contest where it is spelled out from the beginning that the picture entered can be of another Zed not owned then that can be considered. However, as sp3ctre wrote the rule he would need to approve any exceptions.

I will now be getting my flame resistance pants on..... :exitright:

No problem with removing the pic as the rules do state what you say, but I may remind you you let a photo through once that was a screen grab of a Z4 from a computer game!

At the end of the day it's just a bit of fun and there are no prizes.

I won't enter again.

See, I did say I never win these things!

I realized a couple of pictures have slipped by that I did not catch and no question I should have been more alert and won't make any excuses for missing them.

However, please don't give up on the photo contest as you obviously have a gift for photography.... :camera:

Mine probably didn't slip the net then as people posted they liked it! May I also remind you the picture I mentioned didn't slip through as a few questioned it being there! and it was allowed to stay. Just putting the record straight.

End of. :)

One good thing came out from that pic I had entered into the competition this month! I emailed it to Shubert Motorsport who run the Z4 GT3 cars and they are very interested in my work and want to commission some work from me!! They also want to buy a high res image of that pic to use on posters!! :roundel:

Outstanding, Breaker

WLH, I could swear the rules have changed... was it not of a zed before and not just your own?
