Road trip today turned wintery...

I headed out for a drive and chat with a few folk from PH today. Stuck to roads I know well and enjoy - given that until today I've covered less than 500 miles since buying my Z4 just before Christmas (and most of that on motorway), I was keen to get out and drive it properly finally. Top down motoring was non-existant  due to the spray/rain/sleet/snow/hail...

Shame the weather buggered things up for us: we had to turn back because the snow was getting a bit out of hand. One of the folk had left the previous stop 5 mins before us and was fine, but the 5 mins delay made all the difference.

Wasn't much of a day for photos (or driving!) but here's a few:

Who can tell me what this is then? (I know, just want to see if anyone else does!):

And this wasn't anywhere near it's worst - I was concentrating on keeping it shiny side up and not taking pics when it got worse)

I'm looking forward to the "summer" (in inverted commas because I live in Scotland - summer is this mythical thing I've heard about) and getting a few good drives in the Z then :driving:

Great pics

Who's was the S2000?

I'm planning a day trip to the Highlands as soon as we get a good weekend forecast

Bloody hell, that didn't take long :D

Yep, a Henson M30. Can't for the life of my remember what engine his currently has, but I think he mentioned putting in a 3.4 V8 in the summer. Bloke did that drive today with no heater in it (hasn't got the matrix connected yet) and an incredibly loud exhaust (but not as loud as the Vette's - which unfortuantely wouldn't start so didn't make the trip).

Cheers. S2000 was a member from the PH forum who stays local to me, very nicely prepared car. And yeah, you've got to do the Highlands but preferably not in conditions like that today. The forecast was for a teeny bit of light snow but that was a bit out of hand...

A82 from Glasgow to Fort William and on to Inverness, along to Nairn, and down the A939 then the A93 via Spittal of Glenshee, and back to Perth, is a great day loop. Combination of scenery plus some nice driving roads too. Quite long though.

I did a run up there last year just after I got the car.

It was pure coincidence that I saw one at Silverstone last year - it wasn't competing, just in the general car park, but it was for sale and didn't look very well looked after.

Some trip . Strangely, we did a 10-day road trip covering a lot of the same roads, also in July last year - although we didn't set off until 19th July: CLICKY

Could have been the same one - the owner says it wasn't in the best of shapes when he bought it last year (via PH classifieds I think), but it's an ongoing project. Bodywork is fine and just had a respray (same grey as newer Honda's with a slight gold metallic flake), and he's gradually getting the whole thing sorted it seems. New engine in the summer. Apparently there's only 2 of them registered with the DVLA in the UK at the moment (according to the owner) so it's a 50/50 chance you've seen this one :D

Nice pics a11y! I take it you are up for the HH 2009? :driving:
Cheers! I could be convinced :driving:. I'm quite new to PH trips despite using the site/forum for a few years. The HH sounds a laugh though, plus I know the overnight location having stayed there last year myself on a roadtrip - I'd be keen to repeat. Who are you on PH?!

We bought our cars at about the same time, good to see yer getting more use out of your Z than me at the moment! Can't wait for the summer holidays to get some proper driving done!

I haven't posted any proper pics yet which I'll have to address but going up to Glencoe in March and hoping to def get a couple of photies then....praying it doesn't snow.

I'll bet you're probably using yours more though - mine lives in the garage most days of the week unless I can't be bothered cycling into work. Taking it down to Lancaster this weekend but need to get down there in a hurry so it'll be motorway. Might take a scenic route back up the next day via Moffat/Peebles area for some nice driving :driving:

It's just your luck with the weather up there at this time of year. You'd hope Glen Coe will be clear in March but anything's possible with the weather we get

If you fancy a run a week on Sunday
