I think this is the first time I've seen this kit for sale on this forum in over 12months. These will be a great buy for someone. GLWTS.

:headbang: :headbang: :headbang:
Curse the bloody time difference! Advertised and sold whilst I was sleeping :headbang:
Second dibs please (for shipping to London not Sydney) if Dondp changes his mind...
Of course, if he doesn't, I'll just go back to plan A and get the Clubsports

Ibix, if you're returning your car to stock, you don't have aftermarket brakes you want to sell do you? I really want the AP BBK

Sorry lads! Dave beat you to it :) Have a friend of mine who might be selling his soon(car is for sale with suspension). Will keep you posted!

Thanks Beedub, that is a good shout, think I will probably put them on as is to start with, I am getting a dab hand at fitting and removing these now so wont take me too long to swap them over at a later date.

Out of interest however, what spring rates do you have on your Clubsports? Also I keep reading the odd bit on the forums about you trying Nitrons first what happened there?

I'm window-shopping at the moment, and have been 'warned off' Nitrons by my specialist.

What are the best options for road-biased, occasional track day & 'Ring trip set-up?

Are any of the electronically-adjustable suspensions (e.g. Bilstein RideControl) any good, or should I stick to something less complex like Ohlins Road & Track (if they ever make them for the Z4MC), or Clubsports?

I really don't want to lower the car if I can help it, as I can still scrape the arches on Welsh 'yumps' and don't want the same thing happening more frequently. Yes, I know I could slow down, or dab before the crest, but I shouldn't have to

Tony,

Although the AC Schnitzer Racing suspension that I've got wasn't my first choice, at the price I paid for it, I just had to buy it and try it. When I had my Z4MC at The Ring last month I started out with it on my "fast road" settings (different to the recommended) and with recommended tyre pressures and I was quite impressed with it set up like that, knowing that I was exceeding at The Ring, anything I'd be able to do on the road. I then stiffened up the suspension and reduced the tyre pressures and then I thought that the suspension was very competent indeed. I also found the 1000 mile round trip from home was very comfortable, whereas with the OEM suspension I'd have had a stiff neck and been glad to get out of the car. Therefore, as a competent all-round suspension, including track time, I expect there's little to choose between ACS Racing suspension and KWV3. I have KWV3 on my Z3MC, which is a genuine front coilover suspension with linear springs, for comparison, and I think that if I were to pay full price for a suspension set up, with my limited use of the Z4MC I'd go for the KW Clubsport, but if it were my DD with some track use, I'd go for the ACS Racing or KWV3 at whichever is the best price.

The ACS doesn't lower the rear end at all, so you adjust the front to suit: I've had no problems with grounding. Likewise, the ACS suspension, with a single adjuster for bump/rebound combined is much easier to adjust than the KWV3 which is particularly fiddly on bump on the rear, and that would require two holes cutting in the trim in the luggage compartment to adjust the rebound at the rear. Personally, I like adjustable suspension because you can change it to suit your use, but if it's too much hassle to adjust it rather defeats the object. Bilstein B16 PSS 9/10 might be a good alternative (ACS Racing is Bilstein PSS9 made to ACS spec). Hope this helps.

Thanks, it helps a lot.

I had custom-valved Bilstein B12 kit on my e34 - but the guy who did them had plenty of experience at the 'Ring in E34 M5s as he worked there for about 5 years with Aston & Cosworth, but very little on the Z4MC. So whilst I trust him to set it all up properly, I'm not sure he'd get the right settings! Maybe he can cajole some info on the ACS kit out of them?

Maybe a decent kit like the B16 PSS10 would be enough to stop the slight scraping anyway - even with a 10mm drop? Best price I've found for those is £1800.

Might even have to bring the suspension buying forward a bit as I think I've got a snapped spring (or dodgy damper) as the rear is all over the place in fast right handers where it never was a week ago. Traction light and slight oversteer seems to be happening at about 20% lower speed than normal.

Fortunately it's at the dealer tomorrow for an oil service, so I'll get them to check that out too. Maybe the warranty will have something else to pay out for before I cancel it!

Tony,

I've lowered the front by 20mm to increase the rake angle and I've had no problems from clearance.

If you want to experience the ACS suspension I'd be happy to meet up somewhere in Mid Wales.

Where are you based?

Will have to arrange a Saturday whilst it's still dry - Elan Valley & Devils Bridge are fun when there are no runners/cyclists in the way.

I'm not worried about the front, and a bit of rake would be welcome, just don't want to have to find new routes just to avoid all the speed humps around where I live. It's the rear that catches the arch (although rarely) which is possibly use to the 265 tyres on the rear, so don't want to exacerbate that.
