How many were imported into the uk as they are suposed to be limited in number. Also , having just sold my wedge seac , am looking for a z4m coupe preferably in red but I may well have to include black and blue ! Reason for looking seriously for z4m coupe is they look classic , even tvr people love them , and they are obviously a drivers car in everyones view. Where do I look for them apart from pistonheads and maybe a bmw dealer ?

Firstly, Welcome to the Forum and good luck with the search :)

You can look on here in the for sale section, some well loved examples do come up. Autotrader is another source. There is a good buyers guide on here and you'll get loads of help.

Rule of thumb seems to be, if the price looks too good to be true, it almost certainly is!

I won't start on the Coupe vs Roadster thing. The truth is they are all great and the rest of it is banter on the forum. The truly exclusive car is the one off, White, M Roadster which has become known as the Unicorn car on here. Otherwise Alpina Roadsters are rare, only 168 RHD drive models ever built (but then I'm biased) :)

I am only looking for an m coupe as imho they look unbelievable ! have looked up the various write ups in Evo mag and also the people who specialise in tuning the m3 engine , looks as though the bhp figure can be extended considerably into the 400's and the suspension can be improved for better cornering as well.

If you have a stupid amount of money to throw at the 3.2 it can be done its cheaper to supercharge them as the engine is kicking out close to maximum as is

Ah ! Thats why they are so rare and special . Its great to have a serious classic looking car that very few own , everyone who is an enthusiast is going to be swiveling their neck when one goes past ! Thats special.

Here you go, on this very forum. If you're not bothered about nav, this one is lovely!

Looks great !!!! What is behind the box on the rhs in the boot area ?

The battery. The M exhaust system takes up the room where it would normally be I believe. I'm sure an owner will come along and confirm or correct shortly

Get one! Personally I see roadsters left, right and centre..especially in London.
I found mine advertised on Pistonheads, took me about 6 months to find the one I wanted.

You are correct.
On the non-///M's the battery is recessed in the trunk. On the ///M, this space is taken underneath with one of the mufflers. So BMW relocated the battery into the trunk to keep the weight distribution the same.

is this any use?

This forum is excellent , now I know whats behind that box and its not going to be removable by the looks of it ! Thank you Taz for the numbers and colours sold , very interesting indeed ! I'm begining to wonder if people aren't hanging on to the red ones as they are like hens teeth ! Black looks good too and so do the blue colours , in fact this car looks pretty good in any colour.
