One of the best coupes i've seen and the roof IS the best.
And  for the alloys too!

For a bit of fun, what do you guys think of wrapping my roof in a carbon effect?
Quite like this:

I know it's not the real thing but I can always remove if it looks crap.
This would be on Imola Red.

I did mine and i thought that it looked great. I had the front lip done aswell and only cost me £150 all in!

A little of road kill as that was taken after a weekend at the ring!!

A cheap but effective mod in my opinion.

Do it!!!!!!

its lowered around 2" maybe. i just eliminated wheel gap. i drive it the same way i did stock and i dont have any problems at all, and the car handles and corners incredibly well

What do you reckon to doing the pillars (front and rear) and top of the boot lid gloss black as well, a la some Audi TTs or the original Honda NSX?

i think it would be overkill. i was going for more of an OEM+ look, so doing the pillars and boot was out of the question for me. i think it would look too "modified".

My experience with top quality carbon effect wrap, professionally installed...is that it still bubbles after a while. A bit of excess heat in summer is all it takes for it to start warping. I wouldn't use it again.

That Silver MC looks incredible...Not overly fussed on the roof. It's the stance i like! Completely inpratical for the UK though.

Carbon wrap looks so fake, never seen one that looks real...The majority of it is Matt finish, which obviously doesn't look real. (even though raw CF is matt)

Thats what im aiming for with my coupe, looks stunning!

Torn on the roof too, now ive seen the black... My Cooper S is bronze and has a black roof but looks great.

Are your wheels shadow chrome? or are they gunmetal grey?

tldevon, what would you do - both sections or just the middle section?

Finally got round to doing roof wrap on e89
See photos on my post: SILVER Carbon Fibre Roof Wrap :D

BMWZ4MC, what colour are your CSL wheels? They look very nice :-)

Z4M_CSL, if you mean the picture below I'm quoting dubsesd, so you'd need to ask him :P

(mine, in my sig, they're just standard...)

That looks seriously lowered! Must be a bit of a pain if your roads are in as bad a condition as ours...does look great though

Sorry to dig up an old thread but I'm considering the painted gloss black roof option. A mobile dent/paint repair guy who has done some jobs for me has quoted £150.

Any thoughts on whether this is a fair price?

have you had quotes from others? What material will they be using (assuming its a wrap)

I'm talking about getting it painted gloss black (a la dubsesd's car) rather than a vinyl wrap.

Will call in at local body shop tonight to get a quote for comparison. I was just wondering if anyone else in the Uk had this done and how much?

guys,... come on, this is Fablon by any other name, dont you remember "wrapping" your history books in first year at secondary school. you've got 12 to 15 grand's worth of bmw's finest, and you're reaching for the sticky backed plastic!!! this is serious motor territory ,... not bleedin Blue Peter!!! remember vera duckworth's house in corrie, yes the tacky one with fake stone cladding, how many more examples do you need ? saw a new Mustang last weekend in cornwall, completely wrapped in satin carbon, I am not knocking the skill of the wrapper, as it is hard to find many flaws , but when you do find them they become glaringly obvious and tatty and edgy. the little scrapes that we all pick up from time to time wont polish out either and anything else shows up a lot on the vinyl. It just smacked of chav, fake rolex and katie price !!!! :telloff:
