Door Lighting Project
Hi, I've read your post on Door lighting a few times now and having fitted my new footwell lights this last week my next stop is puddle lights and leds for the outer door handles (they do look classy). I've looked on eBay for single 12v LEDs but have only found ones rated at 3.3v which I assume would pop if given 12v.
I don't suppose after all this time you might find a link to the seller. I have a Maplins locally in Lincoln for the connector pins etc.
Many thanks,
Tony.

Wowza - thread revival....nearly a decade since this project
Looks like you have a link to the LED’s above
From experience the main thing I was so pleased about was building in connectors. Can’t recall how many times door cards and handles were removed and all it needed was the connectors undoing
Good luck and shout up if any questions

Now I know this is going to make me appear a complete novice (but I am with things like this) but how would it all connect up as I think I can only see single core wire to pin 8 in the door providing the feed. So if all of the lights were to be daisy chained where does the other end of the loom connect back to?
This is something I would really like to do at the same time as the sound proofing and door speaker retrofit to save having to remove door cards more than once.
Cheers Guys.

Pick up the earth wires that goes back to one of the other pins. There will be one to control the window regulator.
Can't recall where it is but easy enough to track down near the door hinge
BTW wire the LED's in parallel not series..

If you read the initial post it references it in the text that there is no need for a second lead

I'm planning on doing these mods. next Feb. when the other half will be at our place in Florida and I will have P&Q in the garage at home near Lincoln. I will most likely have to ask you some questions when I get started, first one being where did you place the hole for the led in the outer door handle. I didn't spot a picture of the location, sorry if it's there and I simply missed it. Thanks again.

Nice little project to do
I just picked a spot that was central and when the door handle was raised I could easily drill the hole.
Marked with a dot punch.
That ensured when door handle released the led was not visible but illuminated the recess fully

Door Lighting Project
Hello cj10jeeper, and anybody else who might be in the know.
What type and size of both male and female pins are required for this job? I tried BMW Sytner in Leicester, but the guy behind the counter that day clearly didn't know or cared to know. Not even looking at the diagrams on his screen.
I would like to add mood and puddle lights, some additional mood lighting and also the 4" door speakers to a new amplifier.
Thanks in advanced!
