I would just like to have a big shout out to all the people who contribute to this site. I have only just joined but after 5 years of happy motoring the last 6 months have been hell for my poor Z. I have studied many posts from here and learned a lot without having to post and have managed to resolve many of my problems. Myself and I'm sure there are many others are hugely thankful for the advice and knowledge shared.

Welcome. :) You should post up an intro post in the newbies section. Oh and be sure to include a picture of your Zed.

Hear hear. That's one of the many gains society has made with 'internet'. Can't even count the number of times I have learnt something critical from fellow enthusiasts on forums.

Yes, I've learnt loads by being on here.

Anyway welcome to the forum, and we'd quite like to see a photo of your car.

Well the handbook doesn't say as BMW don't believe in changing it!

I had mine done by my Indy a couple of years ago and he charged me for 2 "units" of "MT LT2" so I'm guessing that'll be 2 litres, but it may not need all of it. I can check tomorrow as it's going in for it's next service in the morning.

Cheers Mr Tidy. having done my diff this week and supposed to be one litre, I managed 1.2 litres before it weeped from the plug. Plug height is the 'usual' level to work by, as if its low, how can you check without pumping the rest out and measuring ?
That left me with 1.4 ltrs left over for the box . Which some say 1 litre, some say 1.5 litres. Its not a biggie , as I ordered another 2 litres tonight , to make sure I had enough for 2 gearbox oil changes
Just everyone seems to have differing amounts all over the net. And the current wife got dragged into the search this morning as I said it was her car , so get on with it :D . I then thought , sod it and order a litre . Was £14 for one litre of £22 for 2 litres. Man maths then said order 2. :D

Oh well, it looks like you'll have a definitive answer soon!

I hope it's not too late (I forgot last night) but my Indy says the gearbox takes virtually all of 2 litres.

Not too late Mr T . I have 1.4 iltres and I ordered another 2 litres from Demon Thieves and should be here tomorrow. What it does show is that others with 1.4 litres or 1.5 litres may not have enough as with the diff 'needing 1 litre and I stuffed 1.2 litres in there also and thats without it being drip dry as it has no drain bung, just siphoned out.
Cant wait to change it and wave goodbye to notchiness :driving: As if it does the same as it did with my S2000 box I will be over the moon.

Welcome aboard.
I'm waiting with bated breath for your improvement plan.
Will it arrive before or after pics of your car?

Oops, that sounds a little critical :poke: :D

And that was one of my best 'critical' put-downs! Wasted! Dammit.
