Re: Retrofit Cupholders (half finished!)
It is probably still worth a call to the dealers to see if they can get the face plates as the info might be incorrect

Re: Retrofit Cupholders (half finished!)
I would recommend them all day long, they come in handy in summer & winter. You can use the vents to either cool the drink or heat them up depending on your drinks choice and time of year etc.... They also have an adjustable grip so no matter what size of cup you use they sort of ratchet to the cup size and grip firmly. Simply push them in when you're finished with them. A note worth making though.....don't forget to push them in before getting out of the car. They get in your way and you're more likely to break them off whilst exiting from the car.

Yeah I should change the title, 'cos everyone else posting their info has finished it off.
I don't think preparing a "how-to" is one of my stronger points, along with choosing a good car colour or picking the right time to buy and sell.

X2 as real tall cups just don't work very well and should be avoided.561design wrote:What kind of rocks do you guys drink? I love my cup holders and put al sorta stuff in them. The only time I get concerned is when the cup is tall. The cup then becomes top heavy because the holder itself is shallow.
About the rattle. I've never had that problem but one member in our local club who claimed he had that problem with certain drinks lined the inside of the holding arms with the soft side of velcro tape.

Re: Retrofit Cupholders (half finished!)
Just fitted 2 cup holders as well ........... took about 5 mins each side.
Likewise I need the 2 face plates,I was tempted to make something using modified blank plates but decided to keep the blamk plates intact, never know when you might need them.

Buy them from the dealer, I paid £95 for both.BMW_Z4_Norway wrote:Where can I buy some and are they hard to fit by yourself?
Very easy to fit. Undo one screw and pull out air vent, attach cup holder to the bottom of the air vent using supplied screw and slot back in. I think there will be a fitting guide on here somewhere and you will get them with the holders
