30C1 oil pressure control, static.

Post by javis20 » Fri May 05, 2023 12:52 pm

Had this 30C1 error code pop up twice now. Several month ago I came to a stop on a steep decline. I shut the car off and upon restarting all was good. Then early this week, while checking out my differential problem, the Indie Tech reported that the 30C1 error popped up while they were test driving the car. Car is a 2011 Z4 3.0i N52 engine. Any suggestion as to what to check?

Btw, oil and filter were changed a month ago by the BMW dealer.

30C1 is an oil pressure related code.
I would be checking my oil pressure sensor firstly. If its good then probably move on to inspecting the vanos for wear.
How many miles on the car/service history?

Car has 73k miles on the odometer. All oil changes have been done by the BMW dealer at around 7k intervals. A few years ago I replaced the eccentric valve sensor and valve cover gasket. And last year I cleaned the Vanos solenoids and cleaned both sensors.

Where is the pressure sensor located. I know the pressure switch is located next to the oil filter.

Does the 2011 N52 3.0 engine have an oil pressure sensor or oil pressure regulator.
