And we are off!
3.0si 133k, full service history and 2 keys
Delivered today and first impressions are that the project name is very apt. It’s 99% complete with only a few things missing:
Carpets
Boot carpets
Aircon rad and pipes
A few other small bits
Bits it’s all in bits! Only panels on are the bonnet and doors which need re hanging.
Panels are all great and rust free. A slight ding in the door is repairable. I thought the bonnet was needing lacquer but it turns out it was just very very dirty.
The car has a great spec list- Bluetooth, xenons, nav, cruise etc and heated m sport two colour seats with dash to match.
I need to shift the wheels as I don’t think they suit it- 108s or csl
In the boxes of stuff the brakes have yellow stuff pads and drilled discs. A power flow exhaust is ready to be reattached.
The roof looks in good order.
So the plan is:
1. Sort bolts
2. Exhaust on
3. Roof on and watertight
4. Front end on
5. Panels on
6. Interior including airbags
7. Engine recommission
8. Brakes and suspension recommission inc handbrake and bleed
9. Electrical sort
10. Test
11. Wheels swap
12. Mot
13. Clean
I’ve got a feeling that there are going to be a raft of electrical issues when it’s all plugged in. The engine turns by hand but I’ll give it a good clean and service first before firing it up.
I spent this afternoon sorting the bolts which were all in bags and boxes- very handy.
A few pics to follow. But I’m looking forward to this challenge. Will keep the thread updated!

Good to know the fixings were all bagged or boxed - hopefully that will help with putting it all back together. And it's a great spec too.
I've got Powerflow back-boxes on my current Z4 and they sound fantastic so hopefully yours will too!
It's certainly going to be quite a task but I reckon you may well end up with a fantastic 3.0Si Roadster which is a pretty rare model.

I like the fact that the first photo on your drive just shows the car and a massive hammer.

I’m very happy with the gravity system on the coupe, so really keen to see how the power flex one sounds with the top down!!!Mr Tidy wrote: ↑Sat Apr 13, 2024 8:47 pm Good to know the fixings were all bagged or boxed - hopefully that will help with putting it all back together. You was lucky it didn't rain today! That would have meant even more work.
I look at those pictures, then look in my garage. Very very similar (excpet my Z3 CANNOT be put back to normal now).

All good things come to those who wait. I'm really impatient which explains a lot.
F31 320i. Good car.
E89 20i Now fully dried
Z3 'free litre'. Project and a half. Complicated!
Mazda3 sold
Tatty old R56 Mini Cooper. Money pit!
