Meds 3.0si Coupe - Update: Rear panel on, Front panel off....

Post by Meds » Mon May 13, 2024 4:23 pm

I took the day off work today so cracked on with the last remaining parts to underseal, then re-assembly.

Finished!:

I put the fog lights back in... I prefer:

I'm dead chuffed with myself, the drivers side should now have many years of rust free miles.
When I'm feeling keen, I'll treat the passenger side to the same treatment.

The eagle eyed among you will notice what little modification is next.

Hopefully it's losing the American-style reflectors on the front bumper corners. Bit of filler and a splash of paint and you'll look all clean and tidy, pre-facelift style. 8)

Yep, I'm dropping them off at the paint shop so he can use up some left-over mixture that was kept to blow into the door (not needed now)

I prefer the fog lights in place (though maybe I would disagree on a black "stealth" E86.)

Not sure you can get much better than that blue, a cream / champagne interior and yellow calipers and dampers. Nice

It's the side reflectors he's painting over, not the fogs.

I know, I was replying to the last few posts, not just the one I quoted. I am much more on the fence about the reflectors than many on here seem to be... but the foglights give the front better balance IMHO. I approve of Med's aesthetic choices!

I got mine painted over but now wish that I had the space filled and painted .The guy that did the paint spraying on the rest of the car however at the time advised me not to do it as quite often hairline cracks appear but I`m not so sure now with the excellent fillers that are available .
Montego Blue E86 . MILV`s . Simpson Custom Manifold Race Exhaust . xHP transmission stage 3 . VT engine mounts . BC RA coilovers . H&R arbs . Adjustable rear camber arms . Ultra Racing front strut brace . Drexler LSD .

Yes, I prefer the fog lights. I've cleaned them and drilled holes in the bottom to hopefully stop them fogging up.

Interesting, ill keep that in mind... I'll go with painting first as it's an easy option for me as I'm having some other bits painted at the same time.
The smooth look with no join lines would look very nice, tbh.

Looking good.

I’m not a fan of the side reflectors (mine need sorting because they’re filthy). My to do list seems to be getting ever longer

To be fair I definitely think black kidneys look better, which is why I put a pair on my Montego Blue E86!

I'm not so sure about the bottom of the bumper, but I do like it on my current Silver Grey Coupe.
