Jigsaw- electrical issues before I admit defeat
Bigwinn, If you have a multimeter you could disconnect those earth points and use your multimeter to measure the current that would be going from the comb to the chassis (when operating those various items). Perhaps starting with that general module area. It may help you isolate it to an wiring section. If you don't see any excessive current draw that is dropping voltages to make your lights dim then it must be a restriction in power coming from the supply side. There is little commonality between all that stuff and faults though. The alternator is one of the few things that remains in circuit without flicking any switches or pulling in relays. I am not sure if faulty regulators and rectifiers can give spurious effects. But if your testing without running the engine perhaps disconnect it to be sure.

A few things done today- not really any further forward
Checked the earth drain on each point- no concerns
Checked the earth pins on the gm5- again no issues
Pulled a few more modules like the rain sensor- still nowt
The thing that confuses the bejaysus out of me:
Why does everything stop working when I disconnect the wiper motor???

As we are running out of options the final component swap out is a new fuse panel/distribution board. As it’s £15 it’s worth that for the spare fuses and relays alone
After that… it’s off to the specialists!

Inpa still struggles to connect to various modules in the car.
The engine based ones are visible but body/chassis not so

Not very helpful as it seems to think everything is ok!
Think that may rule out the KBus though?

Exactly. Which is a blessing I think
I’ve booked it for an mot and electrical diagnostics next week so it gives me 7 days to look further

Give it a week or so and I'll post him back the bit I nicked off it when I went to view it for him.

All earth points checked but I agree it looks like a wire break or two causing earthing issues

Just done a continuity check with a multimeter on a disconnected fuse box on my work bench.
Fuse 38 (wipe wash system) is connected to all these fuses:
5,10,15,16, 19,20,24,26,27,29,36,37,39 40,41,48,49,50, 54, 55, 56, 57, 58, 59, & 60.
This explains why you get so many different problems when the wiper is used.
Basically if the circuit for fuse 60 has a positive ground then it will effect every fuse listed above.
Is the squib OK? Is the wiper stalk OK?

What’s the squib? I’ve checked the slip ring/wiper stalk seems ok
Fuse 60 from memory is a big one, yes?

Fuse 60 was just an example, I'm not saying there is a problem with it.
The interior lights are fuse 10 and 26 and that's why they dim when you activate the wipers as positive 12v is being shorted to ground somewhere.
