Re: How much for wing respray?
I paid £100 for mine to be partially resprayed, it had been keyed before I bought it.
The Orange Peel isn't present in the new job (it would have went back to be done again if it was!) but you don't notice that.
Since then I've had the rear end and the front end resprayed, which means I now only have peel on the doors and rear quarter panels!
I'm still quite tempted to wet sand the bits that have the peel in and get the car looking perfect.

That sounds incredibly cheap....what dealer?eleflo wrote:I had a quote from BMW for bonnet, front bumper and fading in the wings at the front of £760, so I would imagine one wing would be a lot cheaper than that.

Re: How much for wing respray?
A friend of mine has a 3.0 Roadster, Space Grey. He told me his quotes from a few body shops for front wings, bonnet and bumper prep and paint. This included doing the wings too and fading into the doors, so a bit more work, but the quotes were
BMW Dealer 1: £1700
BMW Dealer 2: £1900
Quality Independent: £1100
Sketchy Independent: £950
....so I guess he's rubbish at haggling or it must just be a lot pricier down here!

Re: How much for wing respray?
Depends what colour and if it needs fading into the bonnet and door. If its a single panel and fade then you could be able to get that done to a satisfactory standard for around £300.00 round my way. The paintshop I use also undertake paint correction, not the most detailed with everything else hence why I am called in to do the rest of the finishing work. Not a massive fan of typical paintshops as they have no passion for what they do and just think of ££'s and numbers. Paintshop I use arent anywhere near being like that and deal with a plentifull supply from Bentley and Lamborghini dealers. It will always bee pricier south bound unfortunately.

Re: How much for wing respray?
Mines monaco blue, found out bit of filler in the wing(noticed because lack of orange peel effect)BMW approved bodyshop quoted 400+ for respray leaving the filler as is or 600+ for a new wing sprayed and laquered, but they said they cant guarantee the orange peel will be the same as the rest of the car,so in hindsight i may be no better off -what would you lot do?-any thoughts??-thanks

This was @ the BMW body shop in Hitchin Herts, did try to find the original paperwork but can't find it. Also got quoted £900, £850 in the end I got a complete front end re-spray for £700 including vat from a local body shop, did a nice job with guarantee.mikedav wrote:That sounds incredibly cheap....what dealer?eleflo wrote:I had a quote from BMW for bonnet, front bumper and fading in the wings at the front of £760, so I would imagine one wing would be a lot cheaper than that.

Did the orange peel effect match the rest of the car?

Re: How much for wing respray?
Yeah, I think the BMW place was, it was on an industrial estate in Hitchin, I eventually got it done in a place in Barton just down the road from me, as far as the orange peel, there wasn't much but as the whole front was done it did not look out of place with the rest of the car. I would love to get the whole thing wet sanded because this would get rid of any remaining O/P on the rest of the car, but I am obsessive enough about swirls and marring, if I had it done I don't think I would take out the garage and that's not what the car is all about.
