I whole heartedly agree w/ this..I'm just as guilty and it's worse then talking on the cell which is also against the law in NY..

I rarely use my mobile phone on the road. If someone wants to talk, they can wait until I get to my destination. Most calls are never emergencies anyways. Sometimes I'll use the Bluetooth handsfree in the car, but the quality is less than I had expected, so I shy away from that too.
What I don't get is why people would ever text while driving in the first place. Is a text message worth the collision risk? I'm all about freedom and equality for all, so I really don't care if someone gets into an accident while texting. But I do care about the unfortunate people who get into an accident because of some dumbass in another car texting while driving.
Good luck enforcing it, though... it's not going to be easy.

More laws....come on peeps, laws don't stop anyone from speeding so why fool yourself into thinking another one will stop cell/mobile phone use. Enforcement is what is needed. Is it unsafe to use a cell phone? Sure...so bust them. Then you will see the hoards of bottom feeder lawyers come out from the swamp to protect their clients rights.
I say enforce the laws we have now.
