How-To - e89 Cruise Control Retro-fit
Did yesterday the retrofit with al stalk for 70 euro included the Lower steering cowl panel from a E90
After the programming it seems to work, but when i turned the steerwheel i got errors.
RFM and steering and so on.
I have a E89 3.5i with Sdrive. so any idea whats wrong?
Did the coding again, but no effort.

If you followed the guide correctly, then you will receive a load of warnings the first journey after you have completed the retrofit (including traction control, tyre pressure monitors etc).
Then the next time you fire up the car, they will all magically disappear - that was my experience anyway (and I see the same behaviour every time I disconnect the battery).

Did you follow the guide "to the letter"??? Every step? Any problems during coding at all? Did you do the final 'Tool32' steps?cvhuis wrote: ↑Wed Mar 18, 2020 7:14 pm Did yesterday the retrofit with al stalk for 70 euro included the Lower steering cowl panel from a E90

If you followed the coding to the How-To then exactly then you wouldn't get that error, if I was to take a guess then I'd say you have not done the 'Tool32' steps correctly, that would throw up errors. The previous coding, using 'NCSExpert', is to telll the car that you now have Cruise, you use 'Tool32' to reset the steering angle sensor.

I did al the steps form the latest how-to from Dave.
And also the Tools32 steps.
I followed the how-to very carefully and all steps went wel, i only did not see the pop-up at point 59.
but it shows the same ecu's at point 60
Then performed the Tool32 succesful.
It al seems good, but when driving en steering all the errors appears.
FTM and DSC nd steering and stability errors ....
Again i performed the steps with NCS and the Tool32, but still no succes.
I think i will undo the retrofit tommorow and place the original stalk back and undo the NCS changes.
That is i think:
Undo the change in the TEMPOMAT wert 2 to 1
And remove $544 and follow the same steps form the how-to?
When everything is than ok (i hope) I will do the exercise again.
Is this a good idea or is there another option?

Ok then, just as an idea....... when you bought the stalk assembly did it come with the slip ring? If it did did you swap it over with your original or use the new one?
This is not a Cruise issue, it's a steering angle issue, which is the slip ring. You could undo everything, but I honestly think it's a waste of time this is definitely to do with the slip ring.

Dave,
I used the slip ring what was assembled on the stalk , when i got the errors i switched the slip ring from the original stalk.
Then toolset32 again and the same bad result.
Another question that is in my mind:
I have a sdrive with flippers on the steer-wheel, does this make a difference ?
Should be the CC working with this errors, i see the symbol in appear in the cluster, but i think is not working,
or is there a minimal speed for the CC
Thank you for your support, i hope it will succeed to a working installation.

Because you have coded the Cruise, then it should be working, it only works from 30mph upwards.cvhuis wrote: ↑Fri Mar 20, 2020 11:38 am Dave,

Can you take a photo to show me the errors, just in case it is not what I'm thinking it is?

Yes, well that is exactly what I was thinking, and as far as I can tell it is to do with the last stage using Tool32.
This is the Steering Angle Sensor resetting stage.
You are saying that you received a Slip Ring with the new stalks but have tried both the new one and your original (I always recommend retaining the original as it is set up to the car) is that correct?
In doing the last stage you have definitely opened "DSC_89.PRG" and then down to "lenkwinkel_dsc_abgleichen" and double clicked that? Are you absolutely sure? I realise I might sound condescending here (I honestly don't mean to) but this is the only thing I can think of if you have tried you original slip ring. It worked before and this stage just resets it.
HANG-ON STOP!!! Did you definitely make sure that the steering wheel and the wheels were dead centre when performing the Tool32 stage? If they are off at all then this would mean that once you use the steering, the faults will come up!!

Dave,
I performed the last stage succesfull, get same output as in your how-to
what do you mean by the dead centre?
edit:
Ok, the wheels must be exact stand in the middle , when using the tool32 option , I guess

I'm mean as in straight ahead. Front wheels absolutely straight ahead and the steering wheel completely straight.
So once you did the Tool32 stage did the dash warning lights go out? And then came back on once you turned the wheel? Is that all correct?
If so then there us nothing wrong with the coding.

Just to re-state - I get exactly the same set of errors as cvhuis has shown in his picture above, every time I remove the battery. It then clears after I have completed one journey in the car - next time I start it, the errors are gone (but I have to manually re-initialise the tyre pressure monitoring; if I do this on the first journey, it fails, but if I do it on the 2nd journey, it succeeds).
This has happened 7 or 8 times now since I've had the car (as I've had to remove the battery 7 or 8 times) - including the time I fitted the cruise control parts and did correctly use Tool32 without issue. Same pattern every time.

Yes that's right, it all seems to be good until i turn the wheel.
Is it correct that also the right and left signing is not reset in this fault situation?

what happens if you then go for a 10 minute drive in the car? (then shut it off, wait a few minutes, then start it up again?)
