Well, after much deliberation (drives my wife crazy), finally bought a M40i in white with black roof. Comfort pack and various other bits which I am yet to fully understand :) (my SLK is dark ages compared to the tech in the G29!). Pick it up next week ...

Thanks to all for the comments :) :driving:

Congratulations. Same colour as my M40i. I've had 15 months of joy with mine so far. I hope you really enjoy yours !

Another thought - been offered a reduction on the extended warranty as part of the deal (years 2/3) - I believe it's BMW's insured warranty - any experience on whether it's worth having? Thanks

I've recently just picked up a G29, looking at all the technology and gizmos that the car has got I decide to extend the warranty for another 3 years, I think you would be crazy not to (in my opinion) especially with a car like the M40i

I would say that it is over tyred with 255/35 R19 x 275/35 R19 and the Pilot Super Sports are not the quietest out there. Having just swapped from my winter 255/35 R19 Continental AllSeasonContants back to the Super Sports, I can really tell the difference in comfort, the Conti's are far more comfortable and quieter. I'm playing around with pressures at the moment, recommended pressures for comfort are 2.2 bar @ 11.0C or eco 2.7 bar at 11.0C, so set them at 2.4 bar as a compromise. Steering is more responsive but tyre noise, as you would expect, is worse.
Will be changing my tyres in the not too distant future. Keep us updated on the wear aspect as I have read somewhere on here that
they don't wear too well.

Well, had the M40i a week now and super pleased with it. What an amazing bit of engineering, it just seems to tick so many boxes.

As well as being effortlessly quick and just a fun thing to drive when you want to play it's also a superb daily driver. I really did not expect it to be quieter than the (hard top) SLK but it is - as well as more comfortable when in Comfort mode. Amazing!

I will be doing the first wash this weekend so seems like a good time to ask what peoples favourite cleaning products are - I'm particularly interested in what you guys use on the alloys - on the SLK I used Bilt Hamber wheel cleaner and my Alloys ended up corroding - whether that had anything to do with their product or they would have done it anyway I have no idea. Thoughts?

I always use Bilt hamber auto wheel, but diluted 1:1, never have any problems with the rim edge corroding.
