i have found that when the roof is at the angle you want remove the key fob and it won,t move then when finished put key fob back and close roof used the same method to fit my smart top
module

I open the roof with the key fob until its at an angle to stay while I clean the window.

Just cleaned the rear window...as you said open roof with fob to just past centre and close with console button.

I use newspaper to rub on the windows (all), inside and out. The real windows require some stretch. I'd advise caution to clean it while the roof is partially retracted, as the mechanical force on them may damage the pantographic mechanism.
