Three off side rears and just last week an offside front. Looking at the break I could see that rust had penetrated part way through so it had obviously been cracked for quite a while! It turns in to the right really well though!!

What are the best after market springs to use?

Cheers

Eibach Pro springs

Search my user name for details of mine - they lower 15mm beyond a M Sport suspensioned car though, which is something I could do without...

Thanks for the recommendation. I'm not sure I dare drop the car; here in rural N.Yorkshire I need every bit of ground clearance I can get!

Cheers

2004 04 3.0i (on RE040 RFTs)
30k miles approximately and four years old
Both (OSR followed by NSR next day)

(If you're after any statistics, then we may want to include testimony from those who haven't had their springs go).

Yes, me too. OSR at 30k, NSR at 38k (and I didn't even notice that one until the MOT). All done under warranty - it seems to be an expected item.

NSR at 76k on 03 2.5, seem to have lasted longer than most but common fault neverless. Only became apparent during recent dealer MOT, would not have noticed otherwise! Fairly unforgiving ride what with 18"'s on run-flat tyres and all so not suprising coils give out eventually. Mate ditched his RF's and saved considerably on replacements, need a can of foamy stuff if you dont wanna be stranded at side of road mind. Prefer the security they offer personally.

My nsr spring gone at 28k on a 3.0si July o4 car. section from the bottom of the spring clattering about.

Initially thought it was the towbar loose in the battery boot compartment until I did a search on this forum.

If i replace with non BMW parts will the ride become stiffer than standard? Will be getting it repaired next week.
