I don't mind doing a spam wipe session each morning. I'm normally on at 6am to find some so happy to nuke that if my services are of help

that's a kind offer - if you report any spam posts then your reports go to the Mods and we can ban hammer the spammers in 2 clicks

Perhaps you should read your first post again then. Seems you are back peddling to me.Cribert wrote: ↑Fri May 10, 2019 8:39 amOuchsrhutch wrote: ↑Thu May 09, 2019 9:49 pmDon't go soft on him Marlon. His attitude stinks TBH.Marlon wrote: ↑Thu May 09, 2019 9:46 pm Having reflected on this, my response was a knee-jerk reaction to the fact that I spend a lot of my time on the forum dealing with spam - I was never going to ban you over this and it was petty of me to threaten you, even if it was a meant tongue in cheek. No hard feelings I hope.
No worries Marlon, my post wasn’t overly serious to begin with. Seems I’ve rubbed a few up the wrong way with my ‘stinking attitude’

I prefer not to bounce these things unnecessarily, but in this case I think it warrants a reply.
As you may or may not know, this forum is maintained by a small team, myself and 3 mods. The mods do a great job of fending off the spam, and a lot of members help a great deal by reporting spam as soon as it is spotted. As soon as spam is reported the mods get an email and can quickly log on and use "the ban hammer". I get these emails on my phone and 9 times out of 10 can immediately deal with it.... even when I do there is a good chance one of the mods has already killed it!
That said, I was on holiday abroad for the past week, so some spam will have taken slightly longer to remove... these things happen.
There are reasons other forums don't have as many instances of spam. The main one would be the implementation of a feature where first posts do not appear until they are moderated. This puts more work on the moderators and leads to a poor user experience for new members. Personally speaking I don't like it when I take the time to join a forum, say hello and find my post goes into a moderation queue. This is the reason we didn't go that route, albeit it does men we get the occasional spam post.
So, until such time that we expand the mod team we just have to rely on the good members reporting posts and the excellent work from the mods at getting onto these posts as soon as they can

I just don’t like it when the mods delete them just as you’re trying to buy some pills.
