People sneeze on things or their hands and then touch handles, pumps etc. Cough and touch their face, pick their nose, the list goes on. Yuk.
Now, Sterling grey Z4 2.2 with cup holders, stubby aerial and sport seats. Roadsters ‘cause they’re great with the roof down.
Ford Anglia, Red Sprite, a few MG midgets, MGB Roadster and yellow Ford Capri, all gone many years now.

One of the dirtiest items is the handrail on escalators!

Garage forecourts used to supply disposable plastic gloves- invariably the packs are empty these days.
I keep a pair Industrial leather gloves In the boot of the cars and use those when I fill the tank.
Not so much for the germs - more for the oily stink!

Some petrol stations still have gloves around here but I keep spares in my rear cubbyhole.

Used to wear gloves all the time when I had a diesel filling up, great stuff to get on the hands.
Years ago I was filling up (petrol) and for some reason got quite a serious blowback, unsure if the pump was faulty but basically petrol shot out filler neck and quite a lot of it, got a good dowsing down the arm and soaked my trousers. Had to take my trousers off before getting back in the car. Can confirm petrol does burn, nothing serious but drove home smartish and jumped in the shower.
Assuming the pump didn't cut off or there was air in the tank or something that forced the fuel to blow back
Tim.

I always kept a stash of disposable gloves in the door pocket when I had diesels.
Years ago a mate was tubing some fuel out of a diesel and managed to splash some onto my jeans. Even after washing them several times I could still smell it - I don't miss my diesel cars!
Going a few posts back I'm sure I read somewhere that there were typically more germs on computer keyboards than most toilet seats.

Apparently one of the germiest things in your house is the dish cloth.Mr Tidy wrote: ↑Fri Nov 03, 2023 7:56 pm I always kept a stash of disposable gloves in the door pocket when I had diesels.

Guys! Stop faffing about! Go out there and catch it! It'll either build up your immunity or kill you. What's to lose. If it builds up your immunity you can stop worrying. If it kills you, you'll stop worrying.
