I’m just glad Ian had a garage that is well equipped and heated
Poor Ian, just think how much his utility bills will be this month. And he's a poor pensioner! :P
I keep telling everyone I am as you described me, “a poor pensioner “. But it doesn’t seem to make any difference I can’t get any price reductions. 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️ that’s why I am poor.🤗🤗🤗

Usel wrote: Tue Feb 27, 2024 12:02 am Bolster Loom:

Start with the old passenger seat. You should be able to cut the loom free from the old seat wire harness. All the wires are taped together but once untangled they are separately wrapped.

It'll look something like this:

Bottom left corner you'll find this plug:

20240226_215809.jpg

It has 4 wires. Red/black, brown, green/grey, blue/black.

At the main yellow seat connector (x275) you will have a Red/black wire and a brown wire. These are the positive and ground wires.

Top right corner you will have the switch for the bolster:

20240226_213940.jpg

There are 3 wires. Colours are: Red/black, blue/black and green/grey

Detach this loom, now with the passenger loom out that should help you work out how to free and cut out the drivers seat loom.

My electric drivers seat is in my car but from memory the bolster loom is not integrated in the main electrical box:

You should be able cut free the drivers similarly to the passenger side.

If that fails I have already unwrapped the passenger loom and have a drawing of the loom and pictures so you can make one up.
Spot on

Thanks Rob

Well! This evening Stuart completed the final stage of modifying my manual heated seats. They are now fully electric with memory and inflatable bolsters. It has proved far more complicated than we originally thought. But with help and advice from other Forum members Anubis Z and Uncel. The work has now been completed. Many many thanks to Stuart and everyone else who offered advice. I am over the moon. So I can now say with confidence that the car is even better than when Pondrew (against his wife’s wishes) sold it to me.

I'm glad you have finally got the seats all working now! A real team effort :D

Seems like it's easier to fit E89 seats in an E85 than an E89

You are probably right. But many thanks to you guys for all your help. Shows the value and the strength of the Forum.
I am absolutely delighted with the seats. It is so much easier to make minor adjustments on the move when they are electric and then store any changes in the memory. 👍👍👍

Yours or the cars Ian?

Glad it's all working now, love my memory seats, as does Angie

For reference, the memory seats on the G29 are for both seats and not just the drivers as on the E89. The buttons are on the door cards by the door pull, which I think is a good place for them.

Not much stored in my memory these days Dave. When walking from one room to another I forget why.
Do I come here often? 🤔🤔
I do love the seat conversion though. 👍👍👍
Thank you for your help.👏👏👏👏

I'm glad you got them fitted and fully operational Ian, and that you are really pleased with them too.

But I'm sure we'd all love to see a photo or two!

Hello Gents

I have been reading this post with interest. I have just bought a set of ivory white seats for my 2010 E89 Z4 as I absolutely love off-white seats in my car. In the process of restoring them and will post once I have finished restoring them.

From reading this post, I am getting a bit worried as my current seats are manual and the new seats are electric. Can you guys let me know if its a case of wiring and finding power for the seats or is there coding thats required. Do you guys have the connector pin diagram for the driver and passenger seats?

Any guide/help is very very welcome!

P.s. Dave, we have chatted a few times before - you recommended the Mr12Volt module which I have bought and am loving. Needing to remove again as have that HVAC issue I mentioned. Maybe a job for tomorrow!

Bigwin, Usel and Anubis Z are the guys you need to contact. Between them they have an immense amount of knowledge and expertise. Good luck with your project.

So what have you currently got?
Presumably no electric, but do you have heated?

And what are the new ones? Heated? Memory? Side Bolster? Lumber? They are all options! Memory includes the electric movement, front, back up, down, tilt etc

This is a folder of wiring diagrams relating to the seats, including non-powered and powered...

Coding, if it's memory then it'll need some coding yes

Hi Dave, good to chat here as opposed to YouTube and thanks for replying!

Yes, manual seats with heating.

Going to sports electric seats with memory, so it will have side bolsters but no lumbar support (unfortunately). I don't know if the new seats have heating. Will look at the diagram when done with work today.

P.s. thanks for all the other advice. Working through my bank balance on all the mods you had suggested

Also, it's a 2010 (prelci) and the seats are ivory white so of the same vintage. In fact, I think the seats are older than the car. So, hopefully, some of the wiring will align unlike what you guys mentioned doing prelci to lci.
