Incorrect Tire Pressure Decal

Post by Cmick » Fri Sep 14, 2007 10:29 pm

My car is a 7/06 manufcture and after purchase I noticed the decal located on the driver's side noted tire pressures to be 30 PSI front and 30 PSI back. BMWNA confirmed that it was incorrect and the correct pressures are 30 and 32 respectively.

Just wondering if anyone else has the decal with the inocrrect pressures?

There's no such thing as a "correct pressure." For track use, I find that starting out 30psi front, 30psi rear works out PERFECTLY. By the end of a hot session I'd end up with 38-39 PSI all around after a cool-down lap, which leaves hot pressure at around 42 psi on the track.

The reason BMW NA tells you that 30/32 is the correct pressure is because they want to introduce some inherent understeer into the car under normal driving conditions, which means putting a few more pounds of air in the rear tire. Don't believe what the man tells you.
