Electric seat removal

Post by Gil1813 » Thu Dec 07, 2023 3:18 pm

Hi all,

Any help would be much appreciated with the problem I'm currently trying to sort
Currently trying to sort the passenger electric seat which is stuck in it's furthest position backwards, the tilt and seat height all work ok but not the forward and back movement, when trying the switch I can hear a faint click but no movement.
Fuse's all ok
I can remove the front bolts but not the rear ones to remove the seats
Thanks

If the issue is the switch, is there any way to remove it and hotwire to run the motor?

Thanks

With the click of the motor would that not show power in the switch or could I be missing something?
Thanks

If you can see the motor try giving it a good tap with a small hammer or largish spanner to see if it can be shocked into life, could be the brushes inside are stuck.

Yes, but I didn't know where you meant you were hearing a click.

Electric seat removal

Post by Gil1813 » Sat Dec 09, 2023 11:01 am

Thanks everyone,

Hopefully will get a few hours in the garage this weekend to have a go at all the ideas suggested.
Umfaan unfortunately seats are red but thanks for the offer..
I'll start with the easier options and move on although the video option looks an absolute pig of a job.
I'll update as I go so hopefully will help others in the future, these forums are a absolute godsend.

Thanks again

Electric seat removal

Post by Gil1813 » Sun Dec 17, 2023 11:33 am

Had a couple of hours at the seat yesterday but to no avail, my next option is looking like the video option, I'm seriously thinking about cutting it out and finding a replacement to go back.
I'm now finding other issues as I go, had a few fault codes on my scanner, abs and DSC related after doing a bit more digging to my horror someone previously has blanked out both abs and traction lights behind the cluster. some people are just absolute.
Anyway I'll keep hopefully ticking the jobs off with the help of you guys.
Thanks.
