Scubaregs wrote: Thu Jan 04, 2024 7:28 pm A rather brutal dive today, first shot fired from speargun and somehow the cord got in a ridiculous tangle. Spent about 15 minutes trying to untangle it, realised it was impossible and cut it, therefore rendering it unusable for the rest of the dive. Lost the three other divers whilst doing so, so was on my tod for about twenty minutes before I found them again. Horrendous current coming back up the reef, I'm very good on my air but we all started our ascents with about ten minutes no decompression time left. Boat took a few attempts to pick us up as rough on the surface. Still enjoyable.
Bit of a poor show from your dive buddies, you are meant to look after each other

They may operate differently there but I was trained to dive as a pair or at least in a small group and constantly check on each others positions. Obviously diving in Scotland with less visibility its more important.
It's easy for something to go wrong and if you are on your own it could end badly.

Won't wear the Tag whilst diving, though it is rated to 100mts.
No need for condolences, all were found alive and well.

This is my dive computer.

Suunto Eon steel with transmitter. Had a D6 which is watch sized and I loved it, I dive with contact lenses in and about 5 years ago started struggling to read the D6, even with a magnified bottom third of my mask. So sold it and bought the Eon steel which is, as you say, big. :D

However I have the Carrera rather than the Formula 1

Carrera is a much nicer watch than F1 IMO

Congratulations and wish you both health and happiness to wear them :D

I bought a Carrera back in 2008 when holidaying in Vegas, I only wear it for dress, but it’s still a brilliant watch, you’ve made the right choice.
Funny though as I only bought it because of Formula 1 and now I never watch it as I’ve only got time to watch all the motor bike racing😁

Well, last day of the holiday, been amazing and it's incredible how quickly a month has passed.

Flight to bring us home was an hour late leaving London but showing as on time for our departure this evening which is good.

Used an Amex companion voucher (achieved mainly through the wedding spend) and avios points to book flights yesterday for October for our friends 80th. Total cost for the two of us was £300, a £1600 saving on the actual flight prices. :D

We both hate leaving here, but hey, you have to leave to come back. :)

Last dive yesterday was a lovely drift dive, speargun was not fired in anger as no lionfish or barracuda etc spotted. Dive prior to that I got two large lionfish with one shot, was a nightmare getting them off the spear though, using dive knife whilst being VERY careful to avoid the spines.

Lost about a week for diving due to a bad ear infection that kept me up most of the night before the wedding, necessitating a visit to the pharmacy first thing that morning. Luckily alcohol dulled the pain.

Hope the ear infection is only minor and clears up. I got a similar infection diving with turtles in Barbados many moons ago and damage done to the extent that doctor recommended no more diving, just snorkelling at best.

Hope you month went well, the start of married life is as good as it gets so enjoy while you can
