E89 Seats- now resolved (base transplant)

Hi all

Part two of Ians E89 seats

What have we done so far:

With the help of Rob
Usel
we have swapped Ians non motorised M Sport seat cushions onto motorised bases. The car is a facelift and the motorised seat bases are pre-facelift.

The swap has gone well- we have put the seats back in the car. Plugged in and no airbag lights etc, heated seats work ok.

HOWEVER-

There is no electric seat movement in any direction. Initially I thought I needed to send power to them as in E85 world where I would run in a + and - to feed the seat motors, but Rob thinks the power to the seats is 'universal' and if its getting to the heating elements then its not a power issue- but a CODING issue

So- do I need to look at coding the seats into the car? If so- how?

Stuart

Rob and I have been conversing

We think that the passenger seat (pic attached) does just need + and - 12v from the distribution panel to the red/brown bigger wire

However as the drivers wiring is much less obvious (again see pic) we think it’s GOT power but needs power on a switched basis via an FRM01 to the yellow/green wire

Wiring diagrams for both seats here...

And you will need to code 459 to the CAS and NFRM fopr the memory functions to work

Any guides how to do the coding at all as that’s new to me? Think I have most software?

And before I start wiring in power- is it the coding that’s stopping it working at present?

Here's a link to one of my videos. Follow this process, instead of putting the codes shown into the VO you'll need to input 459. Once you've got to the 30 minute point in the video (where I first close the program down) stop at this point as you've coded CAS and NFRM.
This is using BMW Tools which contains NCSExpert and INPA (as well as others)...

Possibly, just check your power wire position first.

Don't recognise the lighter, but the coins are definitely mine (I would recognise them anywhere).

Good luck with it BTW. :)

As the beneficiary (yet again) of all Stuart’s hard work. Thank you to everyone who has responded to his query. I met Rob last weekend when he came to collect some E85 seats and Dave has done work in the past on cars I have owned.
I am truly in awe at the knowledge and expertise you guys have.
Over the years I have benefited enormously from the help of Forum members and thank my lucky stars I joined. One of the best things I have ever done.

Not to my knowledge but do have a Scottish name, so maybe it is in the 'jeans' (?)

So true! 😇😇😇
Being the generous soul I am I will share the under seat treasure with you. I’ll have the two pound coin and you can have the two pound coins plus, as a bonus, the hair clip. I thought you might find a use for it. Did I mention the coins are pre design change and no longer legal tender. 😉
