I've searched the threads and I've read all about the center storage light staying on. Mine is too but it's not a broken tab on the door, it's the actual cover piece that is broken. Going to just order one (and pulled the bulb in the meantime) however I think something else is missing perhaps? There is nowhere for the cover to latch to at the top side?
Talking about part #6
Which you can see is broken in the center so the microswitch doesn't get pushed
Here is the good tab just for reference
Here is the cover "installed" but there isn't a place for it too "hook" in at the top. Is there another piece that is missing I don't understand from the diagram?
Also HOLY CRAP that bulb was HOT!!!

Yes, you are missing the microswitch metal arm that the tab on the door pushes on. See the below pictures.

Oh wow I didn't even realize there might be something missing on my microswitch. I was just concerned with the cover not having somewhere to clip to at the top. Hmmmm I'll have to brainstorm how to modify that because $50 for just that little metal arm seems crazy (my switch does still work properly). Maybe just leave the bulb unplugged and be done with it

Fwiw, the microswitch is exactly the same part as the one in the boot for the parcel shelf.
Assuming yours is an E85? You could rob the switch from the boot (trunk). As long as you remember to check the shelf is lowered before you open the roof.
