E86 with m3 270m wheels

Post by Nuts » Mon Mar 25, 2024 4:38 pm

I purchased a set of kerbed 270m alloys to see how they look on my e86. I like the 108m’s but looking for something a little more unique. In particular I like the concave style of the 270m even though it is a square set up.

The tyres aren’t right being 245/35 R18 on 8J rims. I think I need thicker tyres to fill the arches more. Interested to get any advice on what tyres would work.

225/40/18 on the front and 255/35/18 on the back.

The fronts might look a bit to much sidewall though.

They do look well on the car :driving: fronts i wouldn't change tyre size unless down to 215 , looks good in the arch , only possible improvement would be to take the wheel face in 5mm but that's not happening ( unless you are Machine Monkey :P )
Rears : add 5mm spacers & switch to a 225 40 or 235 35 would help create the staggered look these cars have from factory .

I’m not convinced they’re better than my 108m’s. Maybe the colour needs to be more towards silver for standout.

I do like them! Think they are pretty aggressive offset though - ET20 I believe so would be like 25-30mm spacers on standard wheels. Rears would be Ok probably but wonder if the fronts might poke out a bit? See how you get on though. Look spot on and different!

I’m going to look into machining the wheels down to increase offset. The rears fit great, but the fronts are about 5mm too far out. Also possible hyper silver finish might look better against black.

Actually, yes, on 2nd look. The fronts are a little sticky outy.

I think they look great overall, would be better in a silver colour I think though.
