So, finally, the bodywork issues have been sorted, replacement panels located and fitted in the correct colour, a couple of minor mechanical issues have been addressed and the car is now where I want it. So at 20 years old, and 75,000 miles, I've started on making it look as good as possible. The dent guy worked his magic, and I've just spent the past week detailing the paint, with clay bar, machine compound polish, and ceramic wax.
You would never believe that the panels are from 3 different cars! And it doesn't look 20 years old! I'm really pleased with the results, now I just need to keep it looking like that!
It's great when a car is finished. Although... I do still need to clean and proof the roof, paint the calipers, replace the slightly weeping oil filter housing gasket, replace the auxiliary belts, detail the wheels, and polish the exhaust tips. Ok, so maybe not finished! Project cars eh!
