K-bus

Post by bigwinn » Thu May 02, 2024 3:15 pm

Hi all

The electrical issues on the project car I think are indicating a k-bus issue

To remedy I think I need to find the k-bus ‘socket’ pictured

However I’m not 100% that the e85 has one in this format

Anyone actually seen similar behind the glovebox? Not to be confused with the earth mounting point

Thx

Stuart

There is this connection block on an e85. It’s not behind the glovebox, but just below on the back of another connection block with relays mounted on it.
I’ve been having k-bus issues as well :headbang:

I did have but I’ve removed from my phone. The block is still free from its location in the Z. I’ll take a couple more at the weekend and buzz them over to you if that’s any help?

Hi bigwinn

As promised attached are a few photos of the Kbus shorting bar on my 04 e85. It is located just below / behind the fuse box, and pollen filter housing. You’ll need to remove the glove box as it’s a bugger to get at.
It’s is then clipped to the back of the junction / relay carrier. To get the carrier off it basically pushes upwards, sliding off the grey clips you can see on the bulkhead.
The actual spade connections are hard to remove, they have a little locking tab and as you’d expect are very tight on the block. I will admit I did struggle to get them off without breaking a couple of the tabs.

It helped me a little, but no definitive direction as to which module is / or maybe faulty. I think I am looking for more of an earthing issue rather than an actual module.

Having gone out today for the photos all seem to be working and running, :headbang:

I hope these help you out, and I’d be interested to know what you find and if it addresses your faults.
