How to manually fold the side mirrors/wing mirrors
Hello fellow Z4 owners/enthusiast.
I recently purchased my Z4 last Thursday and I must say that it is the most beautiful car I have driven.
My model - BMW Z4 2.0i SE 2006
I have a question to do with the wing/side mirrors of my Z4.
Basically, when parking in a very narrow space or on a main road I always like to bend/fold the wing mirrors in order to avoid unnecessary scratches and scuffs from other inconsiderate drivers.
I have read through the manual and it informs me that there button inside the car, next to the windows button, which automatically bends in the side mirrors.
After spending a good 5 minutes searching for this button I cannot find it so I assume I have to fold it manually - getting out and bending the side mirrors myself.
However, I have tried this and have found it impossible to do so. I don't want to force the mirrors as I'm afraid of snapping it off
Does anyone have a suggestion? Any help would be much appreciated!
Thank you in advance.

Push from the bottom under the end, push in (toward the window) and up at the same time! Should be pointing skywards when you're done.
Welcome to the forum by the way.

Re: How to manually fold the side mirrors/wing mirrors
Thank you for the swift reply.
I will give that a go
I absolutely love my Z4. It's got all my colleagues in the office talking about it. And when I have the roof down heads are always turning.
I know I will be very happy with my new purchase.
Thank you once again.

If it helps thne look at the the mirror body and you'll see a cut line. It rotates about that point, not hinges.
I find it easier to grasp the mirror with both hands and twist it until it reaches the point PawnSacrifice refers to as pointing 'skywards'

chaos86... good call. There's two types on here, those of us who try but are ultimately a little wishy-washy and use terms like skywards... and those with more precise instructions - CJ (and a few others) could probably tell you the appropriate amount of force to apply depending the distance from the fulcrum. I think my way is more poetic! Be good to see some pics in the Newbies forum when you get a momentchaos86 wrote:Thank you cj10jeeper

Perfect example of why...SirSimon wrote:Lol! I've just found this out!!

Re: How to manually fold the side mirrors/wing mirrors
I think both explanations were very easy to follow and I really do appreciate the quick response to my question.
Seems that there's a good community here and I'm very glad to now be part of it
I didn't know you could post pics in a forum. I'll def take gander at the Newbies forum and see if I can upload pics of my Z4.

No problem... was only joking! I put my mirrors up a lot and they do more easier over time.chaos86 wrote:I think both explanations were very easy to follow and I really do appreciate the quick response to my question.

There's some details on posting pics on the Newbie forum... it sounds more difficult than it actually is!

Re: How to manually fold the side mirrors/wing mirrors
Ha - ha. If the truth be known it took me a month to realise they moved... I only found out when I was p*ssed at water ruuning down the doors after I finished washing it and was about to wax it or similar.
