How can I fix wrinkles in the leather?
I'm strongly considering buying an 09 Z4, but in the photos of the car there is some obvious wrinkling in the driver seat toward the top (see photo). This is really all that is wrong cosmetically with the car. Is there a way to fix this? The dealer said since this is a wear issue, BMW will not warranty it.

If it's a BMW dealer selling the car, I would ask them to fix it at their expense before I sign on the dotted line (specially if it's a BMW Certified Car). If not, the heating gun method is the correct way.michael5155 wrote:I'm strongly considering buying an 09 Z4, but in the photos of the car there is some obvious wrinkling in the driver seat toward the top (see photo). Sweet idea! But is this permanent (providing the area undergoes normal wear) or will it go back to wrinkles after a short time?

I don't believe an isolated area such as yours should wrinkle back again once fixed. At least, the heated air gun method should give you peace of mind about fixing it yourself later on if it does.michael5155 wrote:Sweet idea! this method does work very well, just be very careful not to get the leather too hot, i've done it to a couple of cars with good results and BM leather responds well.

The PawnSacrifice method works for me too. My seat leather has stretched again slightly after doing it, but it's not a major problem to do it again every so often - it's just my seat bases that have stretched slightly again.
