Wheels that suit 18"

Post by wilbo » Sun Feb 23, 2014 11:02 pm

Would like to get some new wheels for my Sapphire Black E85 and I have a shortlist (which isn't too short!):

Cades Tyrus
BBS LM
BBS LMR
3SDM 0.01
Zito 935
CSL Replicas
Dare DR-X2 710

I would prefer to stick to 18" however after browsing on here and looking at google images, some of the wheels look excellent in 19" but I just don't think they will have the same affect in 18s. I think the Cades Tyrus and the BBS ones look good in 18" but something like the CSL Replicas seem to only work in 19". I haven't seen any of the others in 18".

Anyone got any of these wheels in 18" and can post up pics or got any thoughts?

Some 2nd hand 224 m alloys!? Seem to be a popular choice.

Some nice choices there Wilbo / have you checked out "ZCW" alloys ?
They do manufacture wheels for major car companies (BMW included) & i just fitted a set of their "Rave" 18 inch to our A6 .

Both of these look quite nice, the spokes going to the edge of rim make them look bigger than they are. The ZCW, and most CSL style alloys, do tend to look better with a concave rear though and the ZCW Rave doesn't seem to come like that.

Good wheel choices! I'm looking for 18" myself and was set on the Cade's Tyrus or BBS CH. torn between the 19" & 18" but have decided to stick to 18" if only because I'm worried the ride will be worse with even lower profile tyres. The only thing putting me off the Cades is the hyper silver looks a bit "too" shiny. Ideally I want the BMW style 78 wheels.

I did consider the BBS CH style but there just seems to be too much wheel in the middle if that makes sense.

Edit: That said, just on google images and may be changing my mind on them...but again, they are 19s and just not sure they would look so good in 18s:

I have 18" CSL reps on mine cos I didn't wanna push to 19. Personally think they go perfect with a roadster and look spot on.

Do you have any photos Ste, I'm thinking about this set up on mine when the 107s eventually get replaced.

Have to see BM Autosport are excellent, really good, knowledgable people. As is Chris I think it is at CM Wheels, can't fault either.

It's on M-Sport OEm springs which come as standard on the 3.0, not lowered with any aftermarket lowering springs or anything
