Aspect Ratio

Post by Worcester_spoon » Sun Mar 09, 2014 6:15 pm

Not a tyre expert, so thought I'd ask...

I have different aspect ratios front to back (40 on the front, 35 on the back). Fronts are 8, rears are 8.5, but I still would have thought AR should match. Am I being an idiot?!?

Yes, you're being an idiot :P

The aspect ratio is a % of the tyre width.

Your front tyre is probably a 225mm width (so 40% of that is 90mm).

Your rear tyre is probably a 255mm width (so 35% of that is 89.25mm).

So they're as near as damn it equal.
