How to fasten the wind deflector?

Post by Icedev » Fri Aug 03, 2007 4:08 pm

Hi, I just bought a wind deflector for my Z and i was wondering if any of you had any pictures or directions how to fasten it on the roll bars?

It's the cover over type, not the clip on

Any info would be greatly appreciated

Sorry for the huge pics. I left them full size so you can see them better and they retain their quality (my photo editing software isn't the best and dulls the quality quite a bit when I resize).

I think this is what you were asking for. The two tabs in the back are kinda difficult to do, you can't get your head AND hands back there to see what you are doing so you just have to feel your way around to get the clips to fasten. Start with the clip on the side first so you get a feel for what your doing.

Hope that helps.

[edit] oh, yea... it helps if you raise the top slightly when doing the rear clips so you can get your hands back there. But don't raise it too much to where it gets in your way though.

I removed the back two straps that are closest to the center console (if that makes any sense), because it was impossible to fasten and take off regularly without being a contortionist. Seems to work fine with only 4 out of the 6 straps holding it on.

I just purchased a hardtop for my Z4 this weekend and it came with the wind deflector bag and the BMW instructions for instillation (no deflector) I see your location, it is six pages I could scan it tomorrow and send it in a email attachment. Let me know!
