New Z4 Coupe owner - Have photos and questions

Hello! My name is Luke, and I'm the happy new owner of a 2007 E86 Z4 Coupe. I actually flew from Arizona to San Francisco to buy the car, then drove it home. It was a lovely 12 hours to get to know the car. We stopped for photos along the way.

Here's what I know/have been told about it:
-All the upgrades/M options were selected (Seats, steering wheel, suspension, xenon lamps, leather dash)
-10 speaker audio system (But I don't know anything more about it than that)
-Muffler deleted. (But I got the original muffler from the previous owner)
-Angel eyes were replaced with a blue ring (?) And causes an error warning.
-The automatic shifter appears to be aftermarket
-Runflats only in the front
-Reflectors have been painted
-A few dings here and there, and some pretty serious curb rash on the alloys

My questions as of today (Feel free to link to a post I may have missed):
-How do I change the angel eyes to something brighter and whiter? And where is the best place to purchase replacements?
-My passenger side xenon appears to have a fault… occasionally won't turn on. Bad bulb, or something worse?
-Can someone post a photo of the OEM automatic gear shifter that would have come with the M package. (assuming it's different)
-Run flats or non-runflats?

Thanks for looking/commenting/answering.

Welcome to the forum Luke, lovely looking motor and great photos
I'm sure others will be along soon to answer your questions :)

Nice looking Z looks much better with the reflectors painted  some great photos as well,
you should have bought a roadster though living where you do and definitely ditch the runflats

Hi there Luke, Welcome aboard. Can't help much with tyour questions apart from I gather none runflats are for better than runflats.

Best colour you have there. :D Enjoy your new motor. :driving:

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone! I may post some more photos soon to ask more specific questions… but I figured I'll start slow.

Hi Luke, welcome to the forum. Can't answer your questions, but someone will come along to help.

Lovely coupe, convinces me once again than these style 103 alloys suit the Z4 really well
With regards to your Xenon problem, I have the passenger side that does not work from time to time, only when I switch on / off and on again the lights. It triggers a defective bulb signal on the dashboard.

Enjoy your new car and welcome here 8)

Hey Zeddicus… do you get the signal on the dash only when the bulb is off/not working, or is it constantly on? Mine is always on, but the previous owner said it was because of the aftermarket angel eyes.. and didn't mention the wonky bulb. I'm just wondering if I should replace the bulb, or if it's something else entirely.

Hi Luke - welcome to the forum, and congrats on the purchase!

Regarding your Xenon issue - you may have a bulb that's on its way out (usually the colour alters slightly before going all the way) or, because the car was in San Fran, you may have had water ingress in the light and the ballast is starting to fail. Lots of threads on here, but basically you will need to remove the front bumper and headlight as the ballast is under the headlight.

EDIT: try this link, cj10jeeper's guide to splitting headlights. the link should take you to a page that shows the xenon ballast split open.

As for run flats - most change to non-run flats and a pump/gel kit instead of a spare (continental do a good one) to address issues such as tramlining and comfort. Mine came with non-run flats as standard, so can comment on the improvement from a personal perspective.

On mine, the defective bulb signal only comes when the pax side light doesn't work. Not sure if your issue is the same, could yours be related to the mod performed by prev. owner?
Xenon bulb are supposed to last as long as the car's life, and can be quite expensive to replace... not decided to replace mine until it really left me in the dark!
