Hi, recently purchased a 3.0 Z4 from Wales. Spent years with TVR but fancied a change!
The steering was dangerous, new Pirelli P7s,track rods cured that.
Had a few ongoing electrical probs but hopefully sorted now.
Previous reg was LM03 ZGA.
Nice to have economy for a change! :D

Welcome aboard, you're probably already aware but first few mods improvements to consider that improve drivability of the manuals:

CDV delete (makes changes smoother, esp' 1st to 2nd)
Gearbox oil change - Opie recommends 50/50 mix of Redline MTL and Redline D4 ATF - Good maintenance and makes it smoother
Weighted / heavier gearknob to reduce notchiness of gearbox e.g. Storm Motorwerks V1 or V2 (maybe ZHP but they are lighter)

I've made all these changes and together they have really improved the clutch and gear shift, I was surprised at how much the Storm gearknob improved the shift.

Other big change is get rid of runflats. They are awful things.

I need to stop spending money on mine !!

Thanks for all the comments. I know what you mean about gear change,1st to 2nd is interesting.
I shall do the gearbox oil soon. No run flats on it,thankfully. Michelin Pilots on the back and Pirelli on the front.
Owned several TVR's and can honestly say, never ever broke down! :o
Bought the z4 and lost all electrics after a few days.
The BMW drives so smoothly though, you can have a conversation too!
TVR pic as requested :driving:
