BMW M4 Prices

Post by Stark » Sat Nov 01, 2014 7:38 pm

Just shows you what dealers say is total crap...

3-4 months ago, I went and looked at M4's and you could not get a new one for under £62/£63K....now there are 10 at AUC for just under £55,000.

So dealers saying the residuals on these are amazing......well they aren't.

As always, never any cars whose residuals are amazing other than specialist ones. Granted some are better than others.

Rant over.

Yeah there was no budging on price when I enquired. That must've been about 4 months ago....

They were only prepared to offer £11,750 for the zed too  They'd have tried to sell the zed for £18,500. Maybe even £19.

No thanks

I'd give you more than £19 :D

I wonder if BMW are not shifting as many as they thought they would....

this is quite interesting reading / viewing.

Came from a 911, got the M4 for 4 months, and going back to the 911.

I am sure the M4 is a great car, but it is a little too plain for me.

Not to get into M vs 911s, and irrespective of price, I've seen and heard a few M4s in the flesh and I have to say they are growing on me, so happy for depreciation to do its thing, just hope that some owners spec it with sunroofs

I have been in my local BMW dealership recently and the salesman asked me what I thought of the M4 and I said it just didn't do anything for me purely because the M3 I had was a complete let down and I had lost faith in the M brand because of it.

I appreciate the M4 would make a far better daily driver than my old V8 M3 for sure but I genuinely believe M cars have lost their mojo over the last few years for a fact but that's more about BMW changing direction I think whereas other manufacturers have stuck to either N/A or higher capacity engines.

As an example Porsche still stick with N/A for the 911 and Merc are going to a blown V8 with the next C63 yet BMW bottled it with M4 and that's enough for me.

The new M3 did nothing for me as a special car.

Great daily car though for a petrol head, but just not special!

I liked it. If I was thinking of spending £60k on a car to use daily I would be seriously interested. I know, I know, it's a turbo!!, but for a daily that would bother me less. It's also quicker around a track than a Cayman S according to Auto Express. Besides, if you believe the media, all 911's apart from the GT's will be downsized turbo, as are all AMG's now and the Cayman and Boxster next gen will be 4-cylinder turbo.

What you also have to remember is that this is the first year in what will be a 7-year life cycle for the M4. The choices you have for a new car will be a lot different to what they are now, a few more years into that lifecycle. For example, the RS5 will be a turbo etc.

Get both.. ;)

Thats what my dads thinking of doing. The 911 only has a smidgen over 20k on it and doesn't want to swap it so is fancying buying an M4 too for a bit more practicality and keeping the 911 for occasions :)
