First M140i Review
First review that I've come across on the M140i albeight by BMWBlog
http://www.bmwblog.com/2016/09/23/first ... bmw-m140i/
The official press reviews I understand will follow soon once BMW release the press cars.
I've been following BMWs lack of any news on the M240i/140i, they did do a small press release some months ago but little else since which I reckon was because of the M2 and that BMW didn't want to publicise the fact that the M2 with the N55 engine has little power advantage now over the B58 engine in the lesser cheaper cars.
Agree with the above review though, buy one while you can as it will be the end an era come the M140is replacement

Was that not your reasoning for buying the 135?TitanTim wrote: buy one while you can as it will be the end an era come the M140is replacement
That it was the end of an era and would be the last inline 6, rear wheel drive hatch?
And look what has happened, they brought out another one to replace it, which you have bought.
And they will probably release another one after this that you will feel the need to buy.
Instead of what other people think of the cars, what do you think about them both? Was it worth spending the money and changing to the 140, or does it pretty much feel the same for what you use it for?

It was yes, however the M140i is a model upgrade and not so much a completely new model as it just a new engine and minor suspension tweaks. Was it worth swapping, I would say definitely yes, for me the car is just a nicer drive, more refined with exra torque plus I partly decided to change as I wanted the car specced more to how I wanted it to be. The M135i was bought with more of a budget constraintNictrix wrote:Was that not your reasoning for buying the 135?TitanTim wrote: buy one while you can as it will be the end an era come the M140is replacement

As far as I'm aware the replacement F20/21 2017/18 will be based on the MINI/2 series tourer platform so will be either front wheel or 4WD with front wheel bias. All to do with market demand and freeing up rear seat and boot space which is behind the current front wheel drive competition, as such I can't see how they can carry on using the 6cyl unless a niche nodel is produced which I think is doubtful.
For me all this might go out of the window anyways if the Z5 is tempting enough, just depends on what engine they use and it doesn't look too much like a Toyota

Placed my order today after nearly 6 years of Z4 driving. It will be great to go back to the straight six! Just waiting to hear if they can get my build week pulled forward - initial forecast is week 8 2017!

Congrats but that seems quite a long wait, as much as I understand delays are down to a shortage of MPSS tyres although some dealers are recommending ordering with runflats to bring the build forward and swapping the tyres once the car is delivered. I specced runflats which I wanted anyways and delivery was 6 weeks.InvisibleName wrote:Placed my order today after nearly 6 years of Z4 driving. It will be great to go back to the straight six! Good read. Sounds like the perfect daily driver, if you commute a suitable distance.

I would find it hard to look past a Focus RS in this bracket. Assuming we buy these cars for driving pleasure as the primary reason the Ford seems to have really exceeded expectations.

I'm afraid the RS just doesn't do anything for me, too brash boy racer for my likeing, I'm sure it handles well etc but I have feeling the novelty would ware off very quickly, especially the interior for which I'm not keen on Fords generally, no straight 6 or soundtrack that goes with it.Babw wrote:I would find it hard to look past a Focus RS in this bracket. Looks like I'll be enjoying my Z4 for a bit longer - garage told me yesterday that all their attempts to get a 'pull-forward' on my M140i have failed - going to be a long winter!!

My M140i has finally arrived at the dealers today! Went down there this afternoon to drive it to my detailer for Gtechniq full treatment. Should get it back on Wednesday morning then, sadly, I'll be saying goodbye to the Z4
But I can't wait to have that fantastic straight six under the control of my right foot

I went from the Z to the M140 albeit with a sunroof it's a beast which is incredible value for money and ticks so many boxes. You will love it!InvisibleName wrote:My M140i has finally arrived at the dealers today! Went down there this afternoon to drive it to my detailer for Gtechniq full treatment.
