Thanks for all the love you guys
Going to order some grommets to fill the holes now you have said that, will look a bit neater.
Good shout on the leather dye stuff, although I am worried it may be blacker than the seat leather and stand out. Think I have some kicking around in the garage so may go have a test on an inconspicuous area.
Red would have been my first choice, but they seem to sell for more than the black, and this was an exercise in stinginesschrisgreen wrote: ↑Thu Sep 21, 2017 11:38 am they look fantastic!

Don't be worried - it buffs off pretty easily so is relatively low risk. You can buy proper dye from Ebay such as this http://r.ebay.com/8oyCDl but in my experience it's no better then the cheapo shoe scuff cover stuff.

I'm impressed by your handiwork, nice job !
Lederzentrum products from Colourlock will have then looking like new in just a few hours.
For the lazy (well, lazier) amongst us, E46 sports seats are a direct fit both mechanically and electrically.

Apologies for the 6-month bump as my first post on the forum.
Gaz, do your S2000 seats sit lower than standard as you fitted them? The box section is already adding 40mm compared to bolting directly to the floor, but I'm guessing you may already be sitting lower than standard.
I'd love to buy a Z4 but at 6'4" I'm too tall to sit comfortably with standard seats. If there's a seat I can DIY into the car that sits a couple of inches lower then it would really open up the possibility of picking up a Z4 as my next toy

They do sit lower, but by how much I am not sure, the side on photo may give you an idea if someone else could post a side on photo of the standard seats.
The alternative is getting a Z with the M sport seats which I believe sit lower than the standard ones?

Brilliant mate and look like they should be their. Great look. Do they sit the same height as the original seats or lower. They look a touch lower which is good for me.

Thanks so much for feeding back... that's really great to hear. The door may be opening to Z4 ownership for me!
I guess using 60x20 box section would gain me a little more room too...
From my searches a couple of months back, everything I read said that the M seats don't sit any lower. Happy to be corrected though.

Only problem is 2 of the bolts need to be fed in from the side (see original pics in 1st post) because of where the seat runners sit. Not sure you could go smaller on the box section as getting the bolts in wouldn't be possible.shinny wrote: ↑Mon Mar 26, 2018 10:44 pmThanks so much for feeding back... that's really great to hear. Where in the country are you? You would be welcome to come sit in mine if you are anywhere near Devon.

I did note the complexity on the transmission tunnel side of the mounting; maybe I can't go lower. I guess I won't know until I have a really good look, first hand, for what might be possible. This certainly gives me hope though.
Thanks for the offer, very kind of you! Alas I'm up in Reading, so not particularly close, but maybe I'll give you a shout if life takes me near to you any time soon. It would be ideal to be able to sit in your seats and see how my head clears the soft-top.

Bit delayed but they look great! Always put off fitting other seats as I thought people normally ended welding up runners etc.
How did you know they'd fit? I wonder what else would?
