Looking forward to receiving these & getting them painted up . Any recommendations for a suitable spray primer for PLA?

I just used Halfords brand primer when I’ve sprayed PLA car parts before. You can get some that are heavy or high build which I imagine would make it easier to get rid of the layer lines. I’m sure thanatu55 will pitch in with what he did soon enough as his looks greatoldgitdave wrote: ↑Sat Oct 28, 2017 4:25 pm Looking forward to receiving these & getting them painted up . Standard surface primer is fine. Just get a decent topcoat, I tried a no-brand mix and it dried terrible, used this instead https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-Genuine- ... 2749.l2649 to get a perfect finish.
I've done one of the door ones now but it's chucking it down atm so can't get a photo up yet.

Thanks for the info guys . I did wonder if I needed a special plastic primer but it seems not. Your boot lock one looks superb thanatu55. Looking forward to seeing the door locks.thanatu55 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 28, 2017 4:50 pm Standard surface primer is fine. Just ordered Sterling Grey spray paint, thanks thanatu55 . Not sure when I'll get to do the painting though as it's getting a bit cold outside & I'm not sure Mrs oldgit would like me spray painting in the kitchen . Might need to wait until the spring when my Zed comes out of hibernation. Can't wait .

Put the paint in warm water for a bit and stick the blanks to a box with some bluetack. Carry outside, spray, bring back in to dry. Job done, no unhappy wife.oldgitdave wrote: ↑Sat Oct 28, 2017 6:38 pmIAmOrion wrote: ↑Sat Oct 28, 2017 4:29 pmI just used Halfords brand primer when I’ve sprayed PLA car parts before. I managed to make a bit of space in my incredibly packed garage. Lay a few sheets down to protect all the garage junk and spray 'til your heart's content!
