Thanks very much :)

Also is the 2.5 airbox the same as the 3.0? I fancy an ITG filter but they only list 3.0. I noticed on the K&N website its the same panel for the 2.5 and 3.0???

oh and how did you find the fit, did you put the foam in or leave it out (if this is an option on the 2.5?)

the 3.0 elbow is slightly larger than the 2.5 where the 80mm Hose clip fits, I cut a slice off the old elbow about 10mm wide and put that in to pack out the difference. I took one foam piece out, the one nearest the footwell.

Real OEM show this for the 3.0
http://www.realoem.com/bmw/diagrams/v/p/170.png

And this for the 2.5

However as yours works, it must be right

Aaaah but the above is really for the two different engine types, not just engine size. First one is for the M54 engine and the other is for the N52 engine,
Early engines were the M54 type, and later engines changed to the N52 type.. You will need to check which engine type you have,
I quoted parts for the M54 engine, because the 3.0 M54 engine had the sound generator as standard, but the 2.5 M54 did not.
The 2.5 N52 engine has the sound generator as standard I believe, so If your 2.5 engine does not have a sound generator it probably is the M54 type....

This was on another thread, and trying to see what the point of this thing is. May sound really stupid, but i take it its just for engine sound obviously, but surely if you take out the filters then its sucking in air from the cabin?

Sorry just never seen anything like this on an engine :D
