Fitting? Gaptech - Worth the outlay - Now buying.
Hi all.
I'm considering the Gaptech RCH+. Is it a mod I can live/live without?
Is it worthy of my £95 for fob 'easier' fob activation or should I just stick with holding down the fob/interior buttons?
Cheers in advance for the input.
Neil.

Re: Gaptech - Worth the outlay?
I have a similar product that does remote and one touch and I wouldn't be without it.

Re: Gaptech - Worth the outlay?
I've not fitted one, purely due to the fact i cant justify £95 to save walking another few paces to the car.
You can open the roof on pre-2005 by holding the key in the door, so you still dont need to get in it, if its hot.
£50 I'd be tempted - £100 I 'm not (...yet !)

I know, I'm like you No.5, is it worth nigh on £100???Number5 wrote:I've not fitted one, purely due to the fact i cant justify £95 to save walking another few paces to the car.

I'm sure if I hold my key fob button down it retracts the roof so in reality, I have this function but not 'one touch' as per the Gaptech module.

Re: Gaptech - Worth the outlay?
Facelift Zeds will open the Roof from the Key remotely, but wont close it due to "Safety ", therefore you're only gaining half the value of the Gaptech if fitting it to a 2006 + car

HELL YEAH well worth it, wouldn't be without it personally,
Pull the trigger, you won't regret it.
And you Allen (#5) very surprised you haven't got one.

Re: Gaptech - Worth the outlay?
Only you can answer the question really - you can certainly live without it. That you're having to ask makes me think you've got enough doubt to outweigh the features.
I like having the functionality.

Re: Gaptech - Worth the outlay?
But it's not just this function that makes the gaptech worth buying, it's the ability to raise/lower the roof by pushing the centre consul buttons only once instead of holding them down for the duration.Number5 wrote:Facelift Zeds will open the Roof from the Key remotely, but wont close it due to "Safety ", therefore you're only gaining half the value of the Gaptech if fitting it to a 2006 + car
I've been caught out many times at traffic lights with the standard set up, it's not funny trying to pull away & change gear while keeping the infernal button pushed in!
£95 isn't much to save yourself all that aggravation

Re: Gaptech - Worth the outlay?
I used to have the gaptech one touch module, not the remote. it as great...
and pre-facelift z4's can be programmed (BMW won't but indy's will) to put the roof up and down remotely from the fob, you just have to hold the button and can be temperamental...

And even with the key fob method it's harder than you think to keep the button pressed at the right pressure long enough to operate the roof fully
Keep your eyes peeled for a forum member selling one - I got mine for £80

Once you've had one you can't live without it. Never sit in the Zed pressing buttons anymore.
