What's the worst that could happen? (bike rack)
I've seen these have been mentioned before but thought I'd share this picture in case anyone is considering a rack for their Coupe.
It's a Seasucker Talon. Took it for a test today, very stable up to 60mph

That's EXACTLY the mount i'd invest in for a coupe if i had one. However, cant really tell from pic but is the front mount on the rear windscreen? If so, i'd suggest trying to configure between roof and metal part of tailgate for the rear mount. Have seen broken glass with different mounts that way!

I'd take mine absolutely everywhere!Smartbear wrote:I came up with a different solutionChris_D wrote:That's EXACTLY the mount i'd invest in for a coupe if i had one. Chris, the pic below may show a little more. The main mount has two suckers on the roof and one at the top of the tailgate, that way the roof is doing most of the work.
I get what you're saying about the positioning. The channel in the Coupe roof limits the options as all three suckers need to be able to marry up to a smooth surface. Told the wife I was just popping outside for 5 mins to test the new bike rack, took about 2 hours to figure out the best place to put it!
I could get away with the both-wheels-off-and-shove-it-in technique with my 3.0i Coupe but the ///M has the battery in the boot hence investing in the rack.
Re the bike: It's a Specialized Allez, although it's about to go on ebay as I've got a 2017 Cannondale Synapse coming in a week or two.

Not so sure about relying on suckers. i think I would dent to The roof getting it up there!
I have a Saris Bones 3 which I use on a saloon but it's very adaptable and fits most cars. It's a bit fiddly but probably the best of the 'strappy' type of bike racks but they are all a compromise against using a proper tow bar mounted rack.
If you're around Essex you're welcome to try it out or buy one second hand, if you don't like you can sell it on and you won't lose much.

It will be fine as long as the surfaces are clean and the suckers aren't scratched. I used to film with some quite large rigs at some rather high speeds and never had a problem. On one trip around Europe I attached 3 cameras on the outside of a Lamborghini Diablo VT in very high temperatures. I wasn't going to be around to monitor them which made me nervous so i gave them instructions that they should be taken off when not in use and to check them regularly especially if hooning on the Autostrada. I saw the drivers that evening to retrieve my kit when they told me that the suction mounts had been on all day and they came very close to the cars top speed!!!!Viren wrote:Are they safe, not sure I'd want to be driving behind a car with one of those fitted.....
I'll try to dig out a larger piccie, this one has a tripod on the roof, hooning through Cheddar Gorge.

Love the suction pad attachments. Especially that last pic.
