Thanks for the comments, and humour! Always good to have a laugh in sad, sad times.

jamie_z4 thanks for this. I've been away and managed to get my policy documentation. It will cost me my excess, which is an eye watering figure! No I didn't see your post but will have a look for it now. It's hard to see in the photos but IMO its quite deep. Some wet and sand may well go a long way, but I'm sure its taken it down to primer? Its more white now instead of silver. Definitely taken the lacquer off so looking forward to that starting to peel and flake.

Chris_D, sticky, & Marlon just lol

raymond.harper and Grumpyowl I can't take this on the chin. If I could get it sorted FOC then I would. Otherwise I'm considering the wrapping route as it'll give me protection plus if I fancy a change it can relatively easily be facilitated.

I've been looking at my policy, and I guess I'm in a unusual vandalism criteria. As I know who's done it. As it stands this woman is "notorious" for keying and ripping wipers off cars. Unfortunately in the eyes of the law, they can't take any previous criminal activities into account because they could now be reformed citizens. They could now behave like normal people behave, well normally. Can the claim not be made like a normal accident? I've been told she has a car so could it not be claimed under her insurance? I think this is what the coper meant when we spoke. I understand it will be recorded as a claim, but will essentially be FOC? Right?

FYI I'm probably not going to pursue this route, however I like to know all my options before committing.

would it be possible to obtain the mad womans car insurance details from the police to contact her insurance to at least inform them of this crime?

Worth a try mate, hope you get sorted.

might b a blessing in disguse as a nice wrap (especailly with a hard top) could look the dogs

Excuse me for being stupid but the police were called, they spoke to the woman, and now you have to deal with your own insurance.
What is happening to the woman?
What about the other poor buggers who will not have any clue as to what happened to their cars?
Should she not be prosecuted, or is there really no evidence that she did it other than your say so?
Should she not be made to pay damages if she is found to have done it?

you say she has a car?

Can you find out where she lives?

Then..... accidentally fill a spray bottle up with paint remover liquid and accidentally spray said receptacle on every panel of her car when you walk past...you could always borrow a neighbours dog/cat/llama and take it for a walk, cleaning the pavement of poo.... but some liquid accidentally sprays on every panel of her car?

Eye for an eye....and with you being of the religious persuasion, it says so in the Bible.*

Absolutely sickening to see that happen to a car, I'd be absolutely devastated. As mentioned before, run your fingernail over the scratch - if you can feel it, no amount of polish/cutting compound will help. The only way for a perfect repair is to respray the panels.

However I have also had a very large key gash happen to my Honda Civic Type-R and I was pretty successful at reducing/removing it using a drop-fill technique. The general idea is to get some touch up paint mixed with clear coat, and to dab it with a cocktail stick/very fine brush into the key mark layers at a time, until it is slightly protruding/doming over the surrounding paint. You would then wet sand it level with the surrounding paint and polish the sanding marks out with compound. Quite an effective technique and a good temporary fix until you have it professionally resprayed, but very time consuming.

LANCE: They should be fuckin' killed. No trial, no jury, straight to execution.
Chris I think your bleeper machine is on the blink... It was a bit inconsistent bleeping out the swear words there...

Gutting Kis, This is horrible. I had a similar problem with a No fault accident, car was parked up, I didn't make a claim, but my insurance premium went up!! Hate insurance companies. It may not be worth doing through insurance.

with respect thats one wing. this is 3 panels, silver being notoriously the most difficult colour to blend. based on your repair cost its still looking like the thick end of 500 quid. Might be worth going through insurance after all.

Cant quite tell from the pics how deep those scratches are but you might have some joy with a detailer wet sanding them & buffing them out.
Raymond's right, I've had 6 pieces of work done to various cars in the last few years including my 3 week old Mini, 2 silver cars and my Sterling Z4, scratches worse than that and dents. All done via a local 'magic' repair specialist using various techniques, all virtually undetectable including silver. Saved me a fortune (cheaper rates than Raymond's) :)

Sorry to see this OP.
I think BMWs in general are w*nk*r magnets. I've had cars keyed twice, both were BMWs, full length of the car. Image
I've left many and various other cars in the same spot with no trouble.

Couldn't you take her to the small claims court to get the money back from her? The stinking witch

Thanks for the replies. I'm sure when the report comes through the post it'll have her details. So maybe 1000rr time

For the court related comments: Apparently it will be my word against hers? And I need an independent witness to back up my claim. As there wasn't anyone else there at the time... I've no witness. No proof. She denies doing it, so in essence unless I have a witness or video evidence they simply throw the case out? Well thats what I've been told anyway.
Looked into the court stuff and its £35 fee based on a £500 claim. Naturally I'll get two quotes for the work to be done. So this could go up? Possibly a viable option rather than doing nothing about it. £35 outlay and potentially significant gains...

Have you considered a civil claim? Assuming the police have the name of the offender and charges have been pressed i think you would be in your right to claim damages for insurance excess and any subsequent increase in insurance premiums over the next 5 years as a result of a claim this could be persued through the small claim courts. Even if they cant pay an outstandimg ccj seriously affects thimgs like borrowing or credit so whilst you dont get to issue physical harm you can cause them hardship and difficulty for some time if that flicks your switch.

Have I missed something. Were you parked outside her house or was she just a complete mentalist?

Revenge is a beautiful thing. Need to find out her address and cost her a similar amount of money. New windows every 3 months would sort that after a year or so. People won't learn unless you hurt them in the same way....
