Front reinforcement plate question. Is this normal?
Was changing the oil and never really noticed until this evening.
Seems like there are a few bolts/connecting points missing on the rear part of the front reinforcement plate. Is this normal? I don't see anything where it would connect to. Is there suppose to be a shield over the transmission pan?
I don't see anything on realoem website either.
Thanks in advance to anyone who can shed some light on this.

Looks like you are missing an under tray mate, from memory there is two front under trays on the Z4.

It's the structural one you're missing too... You might need a new set of bolts for it, strictly speaking they are one time use as they are 50nm + 90 degrees.

So apparently when I put 2005 e85 3.0i, automatic transmission, it's greyed out. And according to ECS the airduct is only for manual. So does that mean the autotranny's dont have anything there? I wish someone here has a auto they can take a pic of their undercarriage for us....

Front reinforcement plate question. Is this normal?
This plate was ONLY fitted on FACELIFT z4's, with manual ONLY.
So as long as we dont know what exact car the TS has, there's NO telling if he actually misses something or not!
So if you have a facelift manual: you're missing the plate
If you have a pre-facelift manual: you're not missing anything but you could fit the plate (I've refitted it )
If you have an automatic: you're not missing anything and you probably cant fit the plate.
Does the plate do anything? probably not much, its a pretty small plate and certainly doesnt fill/shield the complete cavity.
It's also NOT a reinforcement plate, it has no structural merit.
Its clearly some kind of afterthought. The mounting holes are there because it is an e46 part and the e46 has a complete plastic masking tray (for the transmission) mounted to it but that apparently doesnt fit the e85, so they bodged this plate somewhere down the line.
This is how it looks like with the plate (albeit on a z4m) and you can see that it hardly masks anything; it is a very small plate:
To fit the plate you need (apart from the plate) a small bracket, 4 clipnuts and the corresponding bolts.

Not that it's that obvious. But now you have a bigger can of worms! Does look really odd with it not there.NYZ4Jack wrote: Thank you!!

Its not the structural one, and you don't need extra bolts.NYZ4Jack wrote:What are you referring to?
