C63 encounter
Just got into a bit of a ding dong with a c63 amg out in the peaks and have to say, not massively impressed! It was obviously faster but not embarrassingly so, the old girl kept it pretty honest! Did show up the handling of the z4 though, i really had to back off in the corners, may have to go for coilovers...

It did sound good!
I think with some longer straights and more commitment he would have been gone!

My best mate bought one recently. I managed to show him a clean pair of heels in the lake district last week.. Probably more to do with him still getting to know it and scared of it biting back though.
Epic noise though!

It's rarely about the machine and more about the drivers.... unless you're tackling a Citroen vs Bugatti.

Very true!
A well driven car will often dust off a much faster car.
The z coupe is 1 of the most balanced cars (power/handling) on the road, you can feel the limits long before you go over them.
I have a few friends with GTR's (660bhp)and round knockhill I'm not to far behind .
They love the feel of my coupe and agree is so forgiving and make getting the best out of it a much easier task.

Havent met a Z4 that will get anywhere near... Yet...
Im suprised a Z4 with 200 bhp less could keep with a standard C63,guess a lot is down to the driver..

All the taxi drivers round here either have one or the prius. Both are ugly. Old mans car. The Z is a roadster, and provides a more 'on the road' experience. When I'm pushing mine around the A and B roads it's a real buzz. I think the thing about the Z is it says 'come on then!'.
It's me that holds the car back, I've never got to the point where I can say there wasn't anything left. I bottle out before the car bottoms out. I'm working on this

A V8 C class with close to 500hp would thrash a zed if driven by someone willing. The zed's handling leaves a lot to be desired at speed, they don't inspire confidence to push in my view. That said they're old cars now, so not a fair comparison.
I'm thinking about a suspension upgrade next year to improve the handling, having covered a couple of 1000 miles in my car, it's without doubt the weakest area.

Totally agree, mine has had a full suspension refresh and alignment but still decidedly wobbly when pushing on. I don't think b4 shocks are well matched with sport springs though which doesn't help.

Hoggwash, I've been stuck behind big engined mercs on PH thrashes. They are hopeless fat wallowy things, on tight twisting B roads. A half decent driven MR takes them apart. God they sound good though.LordOxygen wrote: ↑Fri Jun 30, 2017 7:08 pm A V8 C class with close to 500hp would thrash a zed if driven by someone willing. my best friend has one and i literally take him to pieces in the corners..... we've run the cars many many times, on handling alone, their is zero comparison.buzyg wrote: ↑Fri Jun 30, 2017 9:03 pmHoggwash, I've been stuck behind big engined mercs on PH thrashes.
