Help needed please. New battery time.
My battery is on it's way out and have tried to condition/charge it on my CTEK, but it's definately past it's best, so need to replace it.
Looked on the top plate of the battery, to try and identify which type I need. It is the original Varta badged by BMW, but other than OEM part numbers, there is nothing I can see, that would denote the battery I require. I have put my VIN number into RealOem but no joy.
Every motor factor website I have tried via the reg number, brings up numerous options.
The car is a 2010 ( build month July) 30i Manual M Sport with regenerative braking.
Does anyone have any idea's on how I will ascertain what battery I require - I'm looking at an AGM if possible, as I fitted one to an XKR I owned (Varta), and it was awesome.
I can PM my Vin if it helps, but any suggestions will be greatfully received.
I will register it via Carly, once I've worked out which one to buy.
Many thanks in advance.

Many thanks - strangely, when I entered the details of my car into their battery to vehicle calculator, it stated it wasn't suitable for my car, so I put the details of yours in, and came up with the same statement. I had bargained on a 096 type battery fitting before, but keep getting conflicting advice. The terminal postions are all correct, so sod it, I might just go for it.
Cheers again - appreciated.

Tayna was one of the sites that I had previously tried, but I too, want to go down the OEM manufacturer route and stick with Varta.

Remember to remove the negative lead first and when refitting positive lead first.

Halfords lifetime AGM was £150 but we'll worth it if you are keeping the car.

Do you have the details of the battery you bought from Halfords? I need to change my battery and I get trade prices from there. I have a 3.0 auto 2011 highline.
It's not start/stop so not sure if Mr Wilke's battery is ok to use. Mr. Wilkes?
Cheers.

I checked into this for both my and my son's car.
Go to realoem.com find your car and go to the electrical system and it will tell you the part codes of the originally installed gear. From there compare to the part code on your battery. You can determine if it is AGM or not. The one in my 35is is a 70A AGM battery - and indeed it does say this on it. But I wanted to be sure in case it didn't.... I will check my sons (and my 5 series' )later.
http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/showparts?id=LM12-EUR-03-2013-E89-BMW-Z4_35is&diagId=61_1986
So I need to charge mine on the AGM program on the CTEK. I do not use this car enough to keep the battery charged so I need to condition it from now on.
