N20 Exhaust Options

Post by SteveSmith » Thu Sep 07, 2017 12:14 pm

Hi all,

I want to make my 4 pot slightly louder.

Has anybody fettled with the exhaust on one?

I'm considering having the centre silencer removed. Or having a cust rear section put on.

I only want a slight increase, I do not want something droney or stupidly loud.

Any suggestions? All I can find on YouTube is the supersprint system and e85's / 6 cylinders!

Hi Steve, have you tried the golf tee mod? That's going to give you a slight increase in sound :)

I would go to an exhaust shop and get a custom one made up to suit the sound you are after.

Not many videos about with these engine annoyingly at the moment.

I've done the Golf Tee mod on my 28i and I think it sounds a bit more throaty

The golf tee mod is only going to help below 3000rpm and in Normal mode. I want it louder when I'm in Sports mode and over 3000rpm!!

I like the idea of the centre silencer delete as it's a) easily reversible and b) retains the flap in the exhaust so although it will be louder regardless of it being open or closed I still have the choice of normal and sports mode to open / close the flap!

I think I've sold it to myself...

Anyone know if the black 135i tips fit the Z?
