Exhaust modification

Post by dvd112 » Thu Sep 14, 2017 3:13 pm

:)

Hello all, had my zed up on the ramp today.

I am having the centre scilencer cut out and a straight pipe made all the way to the back box.

The centre box is reasonably small - same ish size as the back box.

Has anyone had the done. Not expecting any performance gains. But hoping it will be a little throatier. Not night and day but more ommph!

It's a 2.0 2015 btw.

Cheers

Pre or post facelift? You won't gain much noise but you will get better throttle response on a pre facelift car.

Get one of my modified backboxes

its an e89, not many people have fiddled with these it seems. I had a cooper s and a fjcw mini and removed the centre silencer, sound was tremendous. Will see how it sounds, super sprint offer the pipe but at 350 euro c. its a bit pricey!

I literally went to my local power flow place on Tuesday to enquire about this.

They removed a box for me on my old R53 MCS and it was great. For some reason they decided to quote me just shy of £300 to remove the box on my Z4. So I told them to leave it.

Another company has quoted me a touch over £100 and they have an excellent reputation so I may take it there.

I'm worried that the car will become droany.

If the box is completely removed, it WILL drone. When I mod boxes, I ensure that a proportion of the gasses is still routed through the box to ensure there is no drone.

I'm considering a little chop to one of the two 35i back boxes. Mainly to enhance that off stroke sound between the two boxes.

Mines a 28i but same engine. From my research I couldn't find anything! I've seen some youtube videos of the supersprint and Eisenmann systems, but you need to hear things in real life to know.

I can do that, but would need the car for about 3 hours as don't carry a spare box for it.

Been tempted on this myself, but may just hold out and change the full system
