Not the replaceable type, they are supposed to be rechargeable when used in the ignition, have tried both and it still does not work. They look like sealed units ,key fobs that is.So how do you charge them up long term without driving to Scotland and back.Been told to attach trickle charger to car battery then put key fob in ignition in the on position and leave it for a good long time like over night maybe and then it will be charged up ,is this true?ph001 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 27, 2017 10:28 am You could confirm that either way but sitting in the car and trying to open the roof in the normal way with the centre console button...if it works it's not a battery voltage issue. I can't help thinking it's a key issue..maybe the battery in the fob is not holding charge well so you get enough power for a blip (like and unlock etc) but the sustained signal required to open the roof kills the battery pretty quickly. Bit of a guess but plenty of places will replace the battery for you included the well respected forum member ducklakeview for very little cost.
Smarttop Module
Invest in a Smarttop !superduperredz4 wrote: ↑Fri Sep 29, 2017 4:09 pm Both key fobs have stopped opening the roof. Both key fobs do everything else.So what is happening to my car? Top button on both fobs unlock the car middle button locks the car ,bottom button opens the boot.Car battery fully charged up using CTEK on recon program. From now on I will just have to open the roof from inside the car instead of the flash way of walking towards it,so be it.IMGP0348-001.JPG
Or comfort access option.
Can this be retro fitted ?
Probably. But expensive. New door handles, column, key etc etc. May at well just buy a smart top as others suggest.
Don't worry. The headlight assist on the Z4 is absolutely rubbish. I considered asking for a refund on the cost. Yes, it works, but it is crap.ronk wrote: ↑Sat Sep 30, 2017 5:47 pm No thanks !
I’ll stick with the Smarttop module :
I bought my car at the end of the production run last year so I was very choice restricted and had to accept a pre ordered car - fortunately it had most of the toys I needed but not comfort access or headlight assist!
